Luckily, it happened on an empty dirt road and my dog came running back when I called, but I don't feel like I can trust Tuff Mutt's leashes any more. We don't think so, at least not for our 55-plus generation A dog that weighs 80 pounds. My arm was cut when the broken metal snapped back after he started pulling on the leash. The bungee properties of the leash caused him to pull so hard that the hardware broke. My broken metal rectangle is not in the picture because I lost it somewhere along the way. It seems that I have owned many leashes around my waist that frequently became loose due to the material wearing out or the use of a talon hook concept (whyyyy). This leash is great since it provides not only a safe and reliable way to connect around the waist and do not come undone, but also the flexibility to be able to hold the dog close like a normal leash at the bottom or the standard way at the top. It's reflective, so you can walk a little safer at night when wearing it. It's nice to have the bungee, since it gives me a little warning when we are about to run. I would take a bungee concept over a regular leash, though it does get annoying if you're trying to get the dogs attention and he starts bungeeing forward, but the bottom loop is there for that so it isn't that bad.
