Please read this before you decide not to purchase this product because of some of the pictures other customers have posted of their dogs being "burned" by it. br>br>First and foremost, if you purchase this collar, please read the instructions very carefully because clearly these other people did not. People who have long-haired dogs, for example, are a problem. The instructions state that the hair around the appropriate area where the collar sits should be trimmed to make the collar more effective; however, the location of the burns on these dogs in the photos is not the correct location for the collar to work properly. It should be worn higher up on the neck (as per the instructions). Those people were also probably wearing the collar WAY too tight to cause that kind of damage. Those burns aren't even close to being funny. Which leads me to my final point about why you should disregard negative reviews. If those dogs were so badly burned that they appeared to be raw flesh, it's clear that they didn't stop barking and that the collar had no effect on them. This training method was clearly inappropriate for these dogs, and how can you not see that as a dog owner? I'm astounded that the owners of these dogs didn't think to themselves at least once, "Gee, I'm wearing this collar, and my dog is still barking. " "And that should indicate that this method isn't working for YOUR dog, and they should look for other ways to train their misbehaving pet. " br>br>To sum it up, I have a one-and-a-half-year-old male, unfixed Doberman Pincher who requires AT LEAST 3-years of care. Because he is a high-energy breed, he needs 4 hours of exercise per day to even consider sleeping through the night. He is a very friendly, well-behaved, and loyal dog, but we had a problem with him barking at anything that made noise outside our house or that walked by when he was outside, so we purchased this collar to try to resolve the issue. We used the first setting, and he barked TWO times before going silent. I promise you'll be successful if you use the product correctly and educate yourself on how to use these collars and the training methods that go with them. Simply stop using it if your dog isn't responding to it. That's all there is to it.

CHECK OUT MY LATEST UPDATES. This high-quality item is effective. Do not be put off by the negative reviews that claim this product is too strong for your dog. Please bear with me as I explain. I started with a $20 bill. 00 for a product that didn't work. br>If something didn't give, it was going to be time for Euthanasia, because the situation was so bad. I was concerned that this would be too much for my dog, who has had a soft, cowering personality since he was a puppy. When I returned home the first day after using the collar, the dog appeared to be agitated and had a thousand-yard stare. He just lay there, as if his entire world had come crashing down around him. I was concerned, but there was complete silence. The dog is happier than he has been in a long time the next day and thereafter; it is a complete transformation, and he appears to be content with his situation. He hasn't barked and is well aware that he isn't in any danger. He is in a better mood. We're much happier now. Neighbors seem to be in better spirits. A barker will put it to the test to see how far he can go. That would not be the case if the situation was so bad. Don't spend $20 on a four-star hotel. Collar with the number 00 My previous purchase had a four-star rating. Do not be fooled. Stop the madness right now and get a good product. br>UPDATE: July 2017. The collar continues to function. FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE NO REASON AT ALL, I HAVE OBSERVED THIS TO ADMINISTER RARE SHOCKS. This is best discernible when the battery is nearing the end of its charge cycle. Keep it charged at all times. I take the dog off the collar for a few days, and then I have to remind him again. When you put the collar on, you'll notice an immediate difference in the level of silence. For the random shocks, I'm taking away two stars. I gave it a FIVE.

I get up at 4 a. m. to go to work. 00 AM. We have a lot of cats and opossums in the neighborhood, and I believe the dogs bark if they see them on the fence, but they don't bark all day. All they do is bark a couple of times as they approach the fence. But, because I want to be a good neighbor, I wanted to give these collars a try. I needed two collars because I had two boxers. br>I adore my dogs and didn't want to injure them in any way. br>The severity of the shock can be adjusted in a variety of ways with these collars. I began at the bottom of the scale. br>However, after one day, they were able to work. There hasn't been a single report of the dogs barking while I'm at work, and they appear to be adjusting well. br>After the first day, I set up a video camera in the yard and watched it for four days. There was not a single bark heard. br>I'm extremely happy with the outcome.

This bark collar has been in my possession for almost two years. It was working fairly well for the most part. My dog would yelp for no apparent reason every now and then. Without any barking or other sounds in the vicinity, the collar had shocked him. However, because this was a rare occurrence to my knowledge, I decided to keep the collar, which seemed to work well. br>br>However, everything went to hell a couple of weeks ago. I eventually heard my dog because he was outside and I couldn't hear him right away. Over and over again, he was shocked. His neck was bloody and his fur was singed when I finally got the collar off of him. He's fine now, thanks to a little tender loving care, and the collar is gone. br>br>I contacted ElectoPet (the company that sold me the item), and they were unable to assist me in any way, which I was not expecting after two years. My main goal was to draw attention to the problem with the collar, as I've since read other customers' reviews, even after the manufacturer (SportDog) released a new version of the product, and I've been unable to contact them because they never pick up the phone (at least so far). We'll see what happens if I keep trying. br>br>Sure, this product has worked for a long time; the question is how long it will continue to work safely. And, once it reaches this point, how does one know when the product is no longer effective, and by what telltale sign?.
