Questions & Answers

Has anyone tried it after they've used cosequin?

It appears to be working a little more smoothly now. It took about two weeks for me to notice a difference. The most important thing I observed was this: It appears to be a little easier on his stomach (12 years old, large, not fat cat).

Can't get my cat to eat canned cat food. Is there any way I can persuade him to do this? His veterinarian recommended it to him because he is 17 years old. ?

My kitty is over 20 years old and has lost a lot of weight. She also has kidney disease and is on methimazole for her thyroid. Dasuquin is given to her once a day. I break open the capsule and combine the contents with some Delectables Senior Lickable Tuna Treat. Chicken, OR Friskies Lil Soups with Tuna in Chicken Broth (minus the meaty pieces), OR Delectables Senior Broths Chicken/Tuna (liquid only because she doesn't like the meaty pieces), OR Delectables Senior Broths Chicken/Tuna (liquid only because she doesn't like the meaty pieces). She loves those three treat bisques/broths, so it's been no problem. I save the meaty bits and mash them up, then add them to her Pro Plan Senior Pate Salmon and Tuna for a 3-day feeding schedule. Allow her to eat as much as she desires over the course of four meals. This is working for her, and after three weeks of treatment, I believe the Dasuquin is assisting her. The Dasuquin will be continued. An aside: Tiki Cat Senior Mousse is another favorite of hers. The best price on that is at Petsmart, while the best price on Dasuquin appears to be at Amazon; you'll have to shop around.

Is there any fish or seafood in this?

No, I do not believe that is true. Glucosamine, chondroitin, and avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) are the main ingredients.

It's worth a shot if you're looking for a new supplement
4/5

I noticed a significant improvement, as well as a reduction in pain. Senior Cat, who was 18 years old at the time of his death, died a little more than a month ago. br>br>The vet had suggested Dasuquin because she was becoming increasingly arthritic despite years of taking another 'quin' product - Cosequin. She took one Dasuqin daily from the age of 14 onwards: It was never refused when I opened the capsule and mixed it in with the wet food. br>br>But who knows if Dasuquin actually made a difference? br>All I know is that as a devoted pet owner, I won't argue if I'm told that a supplement might help; instead, I did what most of us who love our pets would do: I did what most of us who love our pets would do: I did what most of us who love our pets would do: I did what most of us who love our pets would do: I did what most of us who love our pets would do: I did what most of us who love our pets would I switched to buying it from this source because it was much less expensive than getting it from the vet, and I'm hoping it improves the quality and longevity of our animal's life. br>br>It took a few months for everything to come together, but I was able to see (or thought I could see - Exactly the same thing! ) a slight but noticeable improvement in the Senior Cat's comfort; she moved less stiffly after a while, and this wasn't my imagination; her comfortable quarters were upstairs, which meant several daily trips up and down stairs to access her Room and Board facilities. I'm convinced that regular and daily use of Dasuquin made her life during those last years somewhat less painful due to old bones and arthritis because she dragged her back leg less and seemed to get up and move around with much less discomfort. The only other supplements she received were occasional hairball/tartar control snacks and a daily vitamin powder made for Dogs, Cats, and Horses, which I continued to include in her daily food routine. That is all there is to it. There will be no goodies. br>br>Now, I'm not the most trusting person in the world, but when it comes to my pets, I'm as trusting as Gomer Pyle and will go to any length to keep them happy and comfortable. br>The Scottish Fold has an average lifespan of 13 years. I suppose I should take solace in that. br>I would encourage anyone reading this to try the Dasuquin after consulting with their veterinarian first and even purchasing it from them to help level the playing field in favor of smaller, local businesses. I wish I'd had the financial means to put my money where my mouth was and bought Dasuquin from my veterinarian instead, but owning a pet is a serious financial commitment that requires planning if you're not Charlie Munger! br>br>Everyone reading this is aware of the fact that - If you don't already, you should - that the time will come (if you're lucky and your pet lives a long and happy life!) ) when no supplement, tincture, or medication can help your cherished pet. There isn't a cure for that loss. br>br>However, while they're still alive and under your care, I'm confident that Dasuquin will help them stay more comfortable and mobile than they would otherwise. Dasuquin has proven to be a frustrating experience for me. br>br>Thank you - Thank you very much for taking the time to read this review - I hope it was of assistance to you.

Is This Batch a Counterfeit (Chinese) Product? My unusually greedy cat went off his wet food, which I mixed with Dasuquin for his stiff hip joints, all of a sudden
3/5

He's a Maine Coon mix with a lot of size. I called the vet (he is traumatized at the vet), and she advised me against ordering pet medications from Amazon because they are not guaranteed to be properly manufactured, even if the packaging looks the same. It's also possible that it's due to a dental issue. One of his teeth had a small amount of blood on it, which she discovered. For the time being, I'm going to stop using the product and order directly from the veterinary website to see if there's a problem with the Amazon Dasuquin. He eats dry, unseasoned food. Okay, when it comes to food.

This is ideal for "Old" people
5/5

My 19-year-old son is extremely picky. year old Tortie, who suffers from arthritis near the base of her tail, which makes using the litterbox difficult, resulting in some unwanted litterbox behavior. Elimination is erratic. The veterinarian suggested a few options, but this one has proven to be the most effective so far. My sassy cat usually won't eat her wet food if there's a whole capsule of Dasquin in it, so I split one capsule between two meals or give one to two cats. My younger cat sustained an injury to his leg. exam/x- Although x-rays revealed nothing, his leg shook when he stood. The mobility has improved since the Dasuquin was split between the two cats. Both cats are at ease. For the Old Girl, most litterbox issues are no longer an issue. The Youngster has regained his previous level of agility.

My Special Needs Cat Seems to Be Getting Better
5/5

As a result of the dosages of this pill, a senior stray female cat now living indoors appears to be walking better. It won't cure her illness, but by the way she walks, I can tell she's feeling better. 84 pills equals a 42-day supply, and for the price, I'll keep buying to keep her happy. br>My veterinarian also prescribed Gabapentin, which she takes twice a day in 50mg pills. br>Happy cat, happy owner, and willing to put up with not being able to speak to Pretty Girl first.

It aids in the jumping and playing of my senior
5/5

My 13-year-old cat began to have difficulty jumping and playing, and she appeared to be growing older by the day. I talked to my wonderful vet and told her I wanted to help ease her pain and help her joints without keeping her'stoned' on pain killers for as long as possible (she has a strong reaction to pain killers and I want to avoid that for as long as possible), so the vet recommended the Dasuquin, and I was blown away by the difference. She's been doing it for nearly a year and is able to jump, run, and play. I won't brag about the fact that she's no longer a kitten, but she can gracefully leap from the floor to the bathroom counter. I'm very impressed, and I'll keep her on it as long as it continues to work.

My 6-year-old son loves it
5/5

A 1/2-year-old male kitty developed arthritis (along with bladder crystals) at a very young age. eesh) about a year and a half ago. It had a significant impact on his speed. He's about 12 years old and isn't overweight (part Maine coon, but with a massive body structure). Here's how it went: br>br> br>Royal Canin Urinary S/O food (one-sixth of a can wet, one-eighth of a cup dry) br>(twice a day)br>AM - br>AM - 1 Cosuquin capsule pilled on wet portion of foodbr> Purina probiotic powder, half a packetbr>PM - 2 Dasaquin capsules strewn across wet foodbr>PM - Purina probiotic powder, half a packetbr>PM - 1 dropper coconut oil (he adores it)br>br>Because he's such a big cat, using 3 Dasaquin per day would be prohibitively expensive, so I use both products. My long-term goal is to get him on a lower dose, but if I reduce it too much, I notice a significant difference in his activity. His x-ray x-ray x-ray x-ray x-ray x-ray x The x-rays are normal, the arthritis is not progressing, and the joints appear to be in good shape. I know the expense is worthwhile because he runs and plays like a young kitty again. If Cosuquin hasn't worked for you, I recommend giving Dasaquin a shot. It worked much better after I switched over. I believe the cost of this product is justified because it keeps my best friend healthy and happy.
