Questions & Answers

What is the significance of the name "Bayer K9 Advantix II Flea and Tick Control Treatment for Cats"? Of course, the Bayer K9 is for canines. ?

Please remember to only use Feline Advantage on cats and Dog Advantage only on dogs! When used on cats, canine Advantage will kill them and cause severe neurological damage! I think it would be helpful if Advantage made the packaging for cats and dogs completely different. Especially with those who might not notice the difference at first. My elderly mother accidentally used the large dog Advantage on her cat, which required euthanasia. Mom has been in a bad mood as a result of it. It was a terrible experience. Also, in terms of dosing, I have a 19-year-old cat who has been treated with feline Advantage every summer for about three months for the past 17 years. For him, it works perfectly. I've always used the large cat product, but since he's lost some weight this year, I called Bayer to see if there was a smaller dose I could use. Advantage targets both body AREA and weight, according to a Bayer representative. So, even though my cat has lost weight (he's 9 pounds), his body AREA (loose skin) has remained the same, so I've been giving him the large cat dose, which has worked well for him this summer with no negative side effects. Because I get my Advantage from a local pet store, I can't comment on the authenticity of this Amazon product.

Is it necessary to flea bomb or spray the apartment while taking this medication? Is it possible that the medicine will also kill all of the fleas in the apartment?

VACUUM ON A DAILY BASIS. At the very least once a week. If you don't treat the environment as well as the animal(s), you'll never be able to get rid of all the fleas. I used Knockout spray as well as shampooing my cat in addition to the Advantage II. I've given her two doses of Advantage and have been spraying and vacuuming every other day, and I finally feel like I'm in control! Keep treating your cat and house even if you think they're gone. A flea infestation can begin with just one flea.

Is this a six-pack of tubes for the six-month supply?

Doreen, how are you? Because I have four cats, I purchased the four-pack. I had purchased a four-pack earlier in the month, so each cat received two treatments. The treatments were spaced three weeks apart (the instructions state that you can do them sooner if you wait seven days). The 9 lb. bag was purchased. Three of the cats weigh significantly more than that. I didn't use the entire tube on one of the cats because she was smaller. There were no negative reactions from the cats, and three of them found it to be effective. The results from the other cat (a partial Maine Coon) were mixed.

Is this effective in terms of tick eradication? If that's not the case, what do people suggest for ticks?

Frontline Plus can be used to get rid of fleas and ticks. It killed the ticks and fleas on my dog a year ago when I first started using it. I reapply it every two months, and I haven't had any since.

Selected User Reviews For Advantage II Flea Prevention and Treatment for Large Cats, Over 9 Pounds

THIS SHOULD BE READED
5/5

I'm going to address some of the points raised in the other reviews in my review. This assessment is solely based on my own personal experiences.
1. Yes, this product is pricey, but it is well worth the investment. It's very effective, and I've always considered the welfare of my cats to be more important than the cost. Also, Amazon is much less expensive than other sites. (I saved $20 by purchasing it here rather than at 1800petmeds)br>2. Balding. There are a few things to keep in mind when using this product: make sure you're giving your cats the right dose. They should be weighed. Don't take their stature for granted. Use the smaller dose if they're on the fence, or don't use the entire larger one if they're on the fence. Also, don't put everything in one place. Draw a line from the back of their neck to the point where their shoulder blades meet.
3. "Frontline is less expensive and accomplishes the same results. " False! Frontline is less expensive, but the fleas must bite the animals in order for it to work. They don't have to be bitten to use this product.
4. "The fleas haven't gone away. " "No flea product will be able to completely eliminate them from your home. " If you actively fight fleas, it will take at least 3 months to completely eliminate them. You should vacuum your floors and furniture at least once a day for a while, as well as keep up with your laundry and wash blankets, including your bedding, on a regular basis. It's also critical to use flea spray on your furniture. This is where RAID or Hotshot come in handy! Every night, use a spray bottle to clean your furniture and bedding. Because fleas like to hide, I also spray in the cracks of my apartment. br>5. "I had to give them a flea bath because fleas were all over the place. " " This must not be done. It's a good thing they jump off your pets! This indicates that the item is functional. You've just squandered your money if you bathe them before the product has had a chance to set. This is why, at home, you must maintain a high level of prevention. They're leaping off your pet because the product is effective. Vacuuming, washing, and spraying are the best ways to get rid of the pests. br>br>You WILL NOT be completely free of fleas in a short period of time, so don't expect a miracle. People become dissatisfied in this situation. Allow the product to perform its function while you play catch-up for the next few months. Also, make sure you're taking your medications on time.

I've been using this product for a long time and have never had any issues with it
3/5

My issue is not with the product as a whole, but rather with the seller. I've been using this product for a long time and have never had any issues with it. This batch, on the other hand, is defective. The vials arrived flat in silver packages, and the vials opened far too easily. This batch isn't killing fleas, and it's burned my cat's neck, causing her hair to fall out for the first time ever. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch, if it was improperly stored prior to shipment, or if they were tampered with, but I'm not happy and want a refund.

Possibility of a faulty batch of flea medication with negative side effects! I'm keeping my original review below and only giving 4 stars at this time because, unlike the Hartz version, which killed one of my cats and didn't detect it until it was too late, Advantage simply had a bad batch when I wrote the review below
4/5

I'm still willing to trust them at this point, and as you can see, I bought another set and applied it to all four of my cats, with the exception of writing this review, I've been watching them constantly. So far, there have been no negative side effects, and the best effect is that I haven't had any flea infestations since I started using this product. Even if I keep my house clean, there are always places where they can breed, so putting this on your cats and the cats that go into those hard-to-reach places gets this insecticide into those areas, preventing a re-infestation. a pest infestation I switch between advantage and use revolution once every four months or so. This is because revolution, which can only be prescribed by a veterinarian at this time, can cover areas that the other versions can't, such as tapeworm, which your cat can easily contract by swallowing a flea while grooming itself. If a vet tries to convince you that you must have a heartworm blood test before they will prescribe this, especially in California, remind them that there is no such law, and that there are prosecutors who are prosecuting doctors who intentionally tell their customers there are such laws, which is a fact in California. I'm not saying you shouldn't get a heartworm test; I just don't let a vet force one on you. It's not a good idea to use revolution on a regular basis because fleas can develop resistance to the insecticide. By the way, if you have flea problems and are using this or another product, I highly recommend using a bug repellent that is safe for children for a few days, because the fleas that jump off infected pets will try to find other hosts before they die, and using a safe product on yourself and children will help prevent getting bitten. I started doing this after noticing that we were all getting bitten after the pets were treated, especially in the spring and summer. I'm not naming any names because I always consult my children's doctors first, and you should do the same. br>Review from a long time ago: br>If you recently purchased this product and it has the lot KPDBNWK NPDBJ1C, I strongly advise against using it and returning it to the place where you purchased it. We've been using this brand and type for a long time, and a shipment with this lot that we recently received had serious side effects on all three cats who had been on it for more than two years. Due to serious issues with Hartz products, we had experience in quickly rectifying the issue before serious harm occurred, which was to quickly rinse each cat with warm water with soap from a shower, not a bath, as the medication is oil based and dipping a cat in a tub of water would simply reapply it as they came out. The first step is to wash away the flea medication with soapy water in the shower. The second step is to ensure that if the cat ingested any, it was absorbed. dilute and lessen the damage, whether it's through their favorite cat food or getting them to drink a lot of water, which can be accomplished by mixing some tuna oil in a bowl of water. Keep an eye on the cat and, just to be safe, contact your veterinarian.

After Years of Use, I'm Having Issues! Is it possible that the formula has changed? For at least ten years, I've been using Advantage to treat my six cats with great success
3/5

It was time for them to be treated once more just last night. One cat, ten-years-old, caught my eye this morning. year- Mr. Wilson's fur was missing in a patch (approximately 2 x 3 cm) where I had applied the Advantage! Why is there such a strong reaction now? br>br>Another major annoyance that has recently arisen is that each capsule does not open properly as it should. The small plastic "pin" snaps off after inverting and twisting the cap, but the ampule remains sealed. Quality control is a joke! Paying a higher price for a lower quality product is a waste of money. What went wrong with Bayer's quality? br>I'm going to the veterinarian for advice (NOT another Bayer product!)br>Lot No. KP0BNWK KP0BJ1C KP0BNWK KP0BNWK KP0BNWK KP.
