Selected User Reviews For Pleatco Filtration PA106-PAK4 Pool Filter Cartridge Replacement for Unicel: C-7488-4, Filbur: FC-6430, Hayward: CX880XREPAK4
Having a pool has been a steep learning curve that I didn't fully comprehend when I took on the challenge. I missed the most basic aspect of chemical balancing and maintenance because there are so many things to learn. Filters that have been worn out. I was cleaning my filters twice a day, checking my chemicals, and shocking my pool on a daily basis, but it was still not clearing up. I had a pool guy come out and look at our pool and setup, and he told me that my filters were cooked and that I needed to replace them right away or it would clear up. I ordered these the same day, hopeful but skeptical and at a loss for ideas. These filters were installed the day they arrived and left on all night. The following morning, my pool was CRYSTAL CLEAR! I have one major complaint, and it is directed at myself for failing to replace my filters sooner. I could have saved myself a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, not to mention a lot of money, because over the weeks I was fighting it, I undoubtedly dumped far more chemicals into my pool than the cost of these filters. My ignorance taught me a valuable lesson that I had to learn the hard way- No amount of chemicals or effort will be able to clear your pool once the filters have failed.
I recently completed the semi-final exam. cleaning our pool filter on an annual basis, and while looking for something I need to re-order, I came across Four years ago, we had an order for Pleatco filters, which we had forgotten about. I'd forgotten how long we'd had them, but I recall buying them to replace the cartridges that came with the Hayward filter after the second time I cleaned them and discovered they were coming apart; the Pleatco filters were clearly a superior material right out of the box, but now that I've cleaned them seven times and they still look brand new after cleaning, well, I've got to say, I'm really impressed.
These Pleatco filters appear to be on the surface to be. Wait for it to happen. advanced. They really don't resemble any other filter. I've attached some photos to demonstrate the unique "quilted" elements. They're brand new, and they're already flowing beautifully. The blue end caps are tough but long-lasting. The outflow manifold and top closure plate are a tight fit, just like my previous Pleatcos. I'll keep this review up to date as I learn more about cleaning and durability. In any case, if I had to, I could get a new set every year for about the same price. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> Despite the fact that the water had been perfect for three weeks, I removed the filters for inspection and cleaning, primarily to see how they looked. The new Advanced material is extremely smooth, and debris is easily washed away. As the material ages and is cleaned more frequently, this may change. So far, I'm enjoying it. Now I'm going to give it a few weeks before cleaning it again. br>br>Update number two: These filters are toast after three pool seasons, with the bands splitting and separating from the filter material near the end. I never formally "close" my pool because I live in the south. I run the pump to keep the pool clean in my VERY harsh pool environment (under trees, lots of leaves and small debris). Any filter I use suffers greatly as a result of this. Anyway, I'd say I'm in a "worst case" pool situation, and I'm only getting three years out of these filters.
I usually stick to the brand name (Hayward), but the price difference was significant, and the Pleatco reviews were positive, so I gave them a shot. So far, the results have been fantastic. br>br>NEXT STEP: br>br>NEXT STEP: br>br>NEXT ST Three months later, failure has occurred. A little more than a year ago, we switched from a Hayward DE to a Hayward cartridge filter. We decided it was time to replace the OEM Hayward filter cartridges, and we chose Pleatco based on the positive reviews. When I opened the tank to clean the cartridges after three months of service, I discovered that all four had failed (the tops had split). According to Pleatco customer service, this is due to the pool being reverse plumbed. We installed our pool twenty years ago, so you'd think we'd notice by now! However, since the switch from DE to cartridge was made more recently, they may have been correct. Everything appeared to be in order when I looked at the setup, but I took photos and sent them to Pleatco and our pool builder (who has been in business for over 50 years) to double-check the plumbing. It was. Is it possible that we were given a bad batch? Because there are so many positive reviews, I can only assume that this is the case. Pleatco offered to send a replacement set, but I decided to buy OEM Hayward filters (which were about the same price as Pleatco) instead, and when comparing the two, the Hayward filters' tops do appear to be more substantial.
