No, I haven't used it for an aquarium; however, I do have an aquarium, and I'm not sure how it would work unless you were using a filter that the fibers could attach themselves to; it's almost like a powder, and if it gets into the tank with fish, it could kill them.
LOOK ! This product's description can be found here. "Can be used with sand filters, but not more than 9 oz." says the label.
I don't have a sand filter, but I believe you could use sand and combine it with this to increase filtration.

To get rid of some iron issues in my pool water, I was advised to purchase this along with "The Blue Stuff. " This is supposed to boost the efficiency of my sand filter, and my pool was crystal clear 72 hours after using it in conjunction with "The Blue Stuff. " Just keep an eye on your filter pressure because you'll need to backwash your filter soon after using this. This stuff is the real deal if you're having problems with cloudy water.
Traditional DE can cause health problems if it gets into your lungs. Because it's a finer filter media than DE, it works better.
Perhaps it would be more effective in an in-house setting. It worked fine in my Doughboy DE filter, but not in the ground pool filters. The first week I used the pool, I had to backwash it every other day. I went back to regular DE and weekly backwashing, and the water clarity hasn't improved.
very simple to use It backflushes out nicely.
AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO D, IT IS A FAIRLY PRICED PRODUCT. AND IT WORKS EXTREMELY WELL.
Calcium cloudiness was removed from my pool.
D doesn't work nearly as well. It's being used for a pool in Costa Rica that doesn't allow D. , and with good reason. I'll keep buying and bringing it here.
Anyone who uses DE powder will benefit from this product.
