It may be possible to use a metal trough shaped like the roof slope on either side of the valley. Ensure that it is long enough to go a foot or two up the valley and slide under the shingles. The bottom edge of the trough should overhang the roof several inches and have a drain hole to which the rain chain can be attached. Alternatively, if you wanted to get fancy, you could have a catch basin (a box) made with an opening at the bottom where you could attach the chain to. An attached basin would be slipped under the drip edge and attached to the fascia board. - Option two seems to me to be the better option. I wish you the best of luck
Mines are connected to a gutter, I don't know.
