Because I have conflicting feelings about this item, I am unable to award it a "Five Star" rating. This is a fantastic idea - No boiling water, etc. , but I'm a little concerned about not boiling the water because it's what I've always done and it made sense to me why I did so, even if it was inconvenient. Instead of tap water, I'm drinking bottled spring water, which may or may not be any safer - Who knows what will happen? It's a nice touch to have measurement lines on the inside of the shaker. I'm using extra fine sugar instead of regular sugar, and it's dissolving just fine. Despite taking the top off and replacing it several times to ensure I hadn't cross threaded the lid, there was a lot of leakage around the top the first time I used the shaker. I didn't get any leakage the second time I used the shaker, so hopefully it was just a small manufacturing flaw that needed to be removed, and the problem has been resolved. It pours well, and I must say that my hummers are unfazed by the fact that I didn't boil the water. As a result of the aforementioned factors, I have given this product four stars.

It's simple: add sugar to the line that says sugar, water to the line that says water, shake it up, and pour it into the hummingbird feeders. Because I have two, I use them both.
