The brush cutting blade must be purchased separately. The string trimmer head, on the other hand, is included, as are the blade fittings on the shaft.
I'm not sure what I'm saying. I also have an EM405MP that I use exclusively for string trimming. To see if there is a difference between the 400mp and the 403mp, go to the Makita website and look up both models. Perhaps a newer Model Number would suffice?

This accessory for the Makita 36v system performs as expected. Makita continues to deliver excellent quality.
I like how powerful it is; the angle is a little difficult to adjust to if you are short (5'3), but I appreciate the brand's versatility.
It's a step up from my gas-powered Echo.
It was missing a hex wrench, which is needed to put it together. I went to the hardware store and purchased a set of these wrenches in order to determine which one was correct. I was under the impression that I was owed a ten dollar bill. This will cost you 00.
So I bought the power coupler in order to convert all of my outdoor tools to battery power, and Makita was the obvious choice. I was a little disappointed with this particular attachment. When it comes to weeding and trimming, it's a beast. eating. Ironically, it is in its length where it falls short. I'm 6' and have no trouble with the length or bearing the weight, but my wife, who is only 4 inches shorter than I am, has trouble. She has to place it, or herself, in an uncomfortable position to get the right angle when cutting, which takes a physical toll on her. (No, I'm not forcing her to do it; she enjoys it. ) Another issue I had with my item was the internal rod that connects to the coupler that allows it to spin. With my trimmer attachment, I have to be very careful because the rod falls out easily. I'm sure it's a coincidence, but keep in mind that it could happen to you as well. Overall, this is a fantastic purchase. You must be at least 6 feet tall or purchase their curved trimmer attachment. So, to summarize:br>br>Pros- When it comes to weeding, he's a beast. The power coupler makes switching out a breeze. The batteries aren't depleted as quickly as they could be. br>br>Cons- Internal rod that is loose (could be a one-off). Because of its length, it is a little heavy. It's difficult to use for those who are shorter. There are no directions for loading the feeder.
