Questions & Answers

Does the file size between different types of files have to be the same? Or do I need to buy a different type for each?

Voici a summary The file size of a file can't be changed easily. The details are as follows My question is the same as I have a saw whose instructions say One source says to use a 0 mm) file and another says In other words, it is five millimeters thick). There is a size-specific model for each size. The Oregon 4 version is in my possession. The following files are 5mm You open the Pferx-end and see the 70511), and when you turn it over, it says that A white plastic insert is in the X unit, and that is the part that is swapped out for the files of different sizes. In total, there are four larger ones. It is impossible to fit files of 5mm in a 4mm cell. An end piece with a thickness of 0mm.

Could it be used with 3/8" pitch standard chain (not low profile chain)?

You need the 7/32" size for the 3/8" pitch standard. It is not this one. It is a 5/32" size for the 3/8"

Do you know whether the MS171 or MS011 works with the Stihl?

Similar to the Stihl MS 170, which I almost bought last year, the MS 171 looks like a Stihl model. The 5/32" guide is designed to sharpen a 3/8" molybdenum alloy low profile chain, which comes standard on the grinder. In contrast to hand-filing, I have a Stihl MS 210C with a 16" bar and the very same PMM3 chain, and it sharpens beautifully with very little effort. Stihl's 011 is an older machine from, I believe, the 1980s, and it has the same Low Profile 3/8" chain as the 011. In addition to my 16" Stihl MS 210C and coaxial McCulloch PM 310 with 16" bar, I have used it on my 3/8" Low Profile chains on my 20" Stihl MS 210C.

This will work for a low profile 3/8 inch pipe. Can you tell me the gauge of this Could you please tell me if it's an Oregon ?

If it fits 3/8" low profile chain, then yes.

I really like this! The Stihl brand is significantly less expensive as well
5/5

The chain sharpener and the chain profiler work together in one simple step. It is easier to use than a power sharpener It is much easier to do this because I do not have to remove the chain. Then you are ready to go into the field with a stump vice and this stand. Stihl also makes a version for larger chains, though I don't use it. same unit is the same tool as the Stihl unit with the exception of color and.

This is amazing
5/5

Chainsawing is something I've been doing for more than 60 years. A little tool like this is like nothing you have ever used before. This is the same tool, but Stihl will charge you so much for the NAME. Pferds are the same as they are made by the same company, with the only difference being fast and easy. I am able to sharpen my chain in under five minutes using the FARM Boss. Weighs less than 1/3 ounces, so you can take it to the wood and resharpen it there rather than returning to the shop. There are four of these tools in my collection, and I will never go back to the old way of working. We can assure you that you will not regret purchasing. Pferd can be purchased for a cheaper price.

I am so pleased to find a chainsaw sharpener that is convenient With the purchase of the Dewalt 20v chainsaw and Oregon 14" bar and chain, I recently upgraded
5/5

When I tried to sharpen a few loops with my larger file, I realized that my 14" chain was too thick. A file of this amazing quality was purchased and I got to work. As a user, I have been annoyed by files in the past. The edge I can get is sharp, but it would always be I was really impressed with the quality of the tool and the robustness of the files when I saw the file. When removing a lot of metal, you don't need to apply a great deal of pressure. It will just take a few passes each way if you press gently and make 4 or so passes in each direction. There is no need to adjust the raker (depth gauge). Because this is my go to file for sharpening all of my loops, I hope this file holds up. I am very pleased with your work, Pferd.

We have the best chainsaw sharpening system on the market
5/5

There is no better chainsaw sharpener SYSTEM than this one. I found very few reviews that included sharpened pictures, so I added a few. An 80-inch Kobalt saw was used for the cutting A 12-inch Oregon bar runs on a 0 volt, and the original 18-inch bar has been replaced with one. I am using a chain of 050" gauge. So, I marked the raker part of the chain with a red Sharpie (which I also use when I mark the chain to know where to start) so I could see how in was being filed. Please consider the following suggestions 1) If your bar has a curve, like this Oregon Pro 91 does, you will want to aim for the flattest part to sharpen. I am therefore sharpening closer to the saw body because the front 1/3 of the bar has a distinct curve. On shorter bars, such as this one, it is more of a concern. It is not a problem to use the relatively flat bars from Oregon Double Guard. 2) Mark the center file BEFORE removing it, since it has a notched end on the inside, and you will need to install it in the same manner No mention of this can be found in the instructions.

I much prefer your method to the way I sharpened chains in the past
5/5

Years ago I used a hand-held Dremel to grind stone bits on metal. It works well, but that method does not keep the depth gauge setup, so I have to set it up again to get sharp edges. As I only use my saw occasionally, I decided this was not a good way to go. I then searched for a better method without getting too expensive. In one step, this tool combines the round sharpening file and flat depth gauge file needed to complete the job properly. By using it correctly, at the ideal depth and angle, it is very easy to use. I am pleased with the results. This tool is available in other sizes in order to work with chains of different sizes, and my needs are for the round 5/32 file size. For the chain models you need, be sure to find the right tool. The tool is great, and I'm glad I bought it.

The chips went from being fine sawdust to being decent size
5/5

The chain on my Stihl was sharpened using this tool yesterday, 9/24/17. The chips went from being fine sawdust to being decent size. This will pay for itself fairly quickly, given that I pay my local hardware store $8 per chain to sharpen. For the first time, it will take about 10 minutes to sharpen the chain.

I really wanted to love it, but it fails to correctly file rakers
3/5

In my opinion this chain sharpener should have been loved, it feels like a wonderful product in your hand and really helps maintain the proper sharpening angle, but it seemed to sharpen on one side of the chain well and then on the other different, I mean that the rakers are cut on one side but not at all on the other side. This means that I have to go back and recut all the rakers on that side to make the chain even (which defeats the whole purpose of the In general, it appears that the crowns are cut high, instead of being seated within the curved areas of the teeth. As a result, it files about 200 percent more of the tooth off with each pass than if it were hand sharpened at the proper height with the file. My experience with the sharpener is based on checks I made While Oregon chain performed better, it still did not compare well to the national average. With the power care, the round files sat so high that they did nothing more than fill the top of the teeth. If I just got a bad one, it should work, but for the price I paid it should be fine. In the case of low profile chain, this difference between good and bad sharpening is so acute that even if a little of the tool is manufactured off, it makes a significant difference in how it functions. At least for now I'm going to stick with the good old hand filing method without a guide as described by the shipwright on YouTube. Simple, cheap, and efficient is how he appears to describe his method.

The sharpener works fast and is easy to use
5/5

That it works and saves time is all I can say about this device! It is always a pain for me to sharpen my chains and then file down the raker bars Again, I only get the teeth from my electric bench mount sharpener, but it does not sharpen As well, it is cumbersome to set up for all the different chains that I have. It is simpler just to save a bunch of dull chains and then I sharpen them manually on a rainy day. This tool is simple and is designed to bite down on the raker bar and sharpen the teeth at the same time, and it also ensures you have the right angle when you are sharpening. All you need is a few strokes per tooth to get the chain up and cutting again. My large saw requires another in the 7/32" range. I bought this as a trial and have now purchased another in that range. The STIHL sharpener has the same quality, but at a cheaper price. (My girlfriend's father has the STIHL version, and the only difference between the two is the color. ) There is dust accumulating in the corner of my shed from my electric sharpener and the other files.
