Don't try it; I recently purchased six different 14" chains, all of which are too short; this Ego saw uses an oddball chain, and Ego will only recommend their over-the-counter over-the-counter over-the-counter over-the-counter over-the-counter over-the-counter over-the-counter over-the-counter over-the-counter over-the-counter chain with a reasonable price
Hi Tony! The chain can be sharpened indefinitely. If you'd like a step-by-step guide, click here. Page 41 of the chainsaw manual has a step-by-step walkthrough.
Selected User Reviews For EGO Power+ AC1400 14-Inch Chain Saw Chain for EGO 14-Inch Chain Saw CS1400/CS1401 , Black
My only criticism is this: It's not very good at keeping its edge. Here's why I gave it five out of five stars: It has the same edge as many Oregon chains (which it could be) for a fraction of the price. I doubt they'd ever ship a dull cutting surface, so I'm guessing the biggest gripe was that the chain was installed backwards (it happens to everyone). In any case, if you come in contact with- This chain will last you a long time if you sharpen it every time you refill the bar oil (which you should do regardless of your saw or chain seller). I got four extensive sharpenings before there wasn't much left and I had to toss it, which tells me that the metal in the cutting teeth isn't the best, but then again, I didn't pay for the best.
Once I got this new chain properly installed on my Ego 14" saw, it cut quickly and straightly without putting too much strain on the saw. My original chain snagged on a rock, and I tried to sharpen it several times, but it still wouldn't cut cleanly. Even with the adjustment at its most loose setting, the new chain was a tight fit, but it did not bind and gradually loosen with use. I believe the new chain should not be as tight even when new, which is why I deducted one star; otherwise, the cutting performance is five stars.
I am a huge fan of eGO's high-quality products; I've had five of them for about three years and have had zero issues. I wanted to purchase their replacement chain to show my support and because I know they are high-quality chains. I've cut trees and branches much thicker than I expected the 14" chainsaw to be capable of. It is packaged well so that the chain does not become dull during shipping.
This battery-powered device Compared to gas-powered chainsaws, the EGO chainsaw is a huge step forward. Power chainsaws are beneficial in a variety of ways, the most important of which is their ease of use and relative quietness. I'm blown away by the overall high quality and ergonomic design. with one exception, the metrics of this EGO model The cap on the chain oil reservoir is extremely difficult and time-consuming to replace, and I'm afraid the day will come when it won't go on at all, rendering the entire saw useless. I believe this is a manufacturing defect, but I am not certain. I can't think of anything obvious that could be causing this problem, such as misaligned threads. I have a number of EGO products and am very pleased with all of them.
Maybe I'm the culprit. Or the fact that the oil dispenser on our Ego saw isn't working properly. The first day started out strong, but the friction soon had me almost setting trees on fire, rather than cutting them.
As a result, EGO claims that this is the only chain they recommend for the 14" chainsaw. Oh, yes, I thought. Simply purchase our goods. However, when compared to aftermarket chains available at home supply stores, these chains are better built, start sharper, stay sharper, and don't stretch (or jump off the saw) nearly as much. And it was about the same price (less expensive than some I've seen).
The performance of the OE chain (which is still on the saw) is the basis for this review. br>br>I've chopped down 5 good-sized (10-pound) trees. I still have the original chain because I cut down 12") ash trees and cut them up into stove length pieces. I ordered two more just to be sure I had them when I needed them. br>br>The OE chain continues to thrive - Large chunks of sawdust and even strips of wood are still being produced.
This item, I believe, is functional. I'm aware of commercial enterprises that successfully employ them. The issue is as follows: br> It's possible that it won't work for you until you open the package and read the instructions. It necessitates a significant amount of water pressure, which most people lack. br>They should inform you of this before you purchase it.
