The answer is unknown to me. But, you might want to ask Montgomery Ward for help since they might be able to help.
Attach a screw into the center of the lid (cover) to securely mount the hook. You can then hang the lid (cover) off the edge of the grill plate while you are cooking by using the hook. There is no connection between the lid (cover) and the base of the grill.
The answer is unknown to me. My search of the internet did not turn up any info, and I could not find any in the booklet that came with the grill. Perhaps you should contact Montgomery Ward.
