The hopper on the Pitt Boss 456D was extended using this item. It performs as expected and significantly expands the amount of space available for pellet storage. The item arrived sooner than expected and is of comparable quality to the smoker. Another YouTube reviewer of this grill claims that once installed and used, the smoker is prone to tipping, so he did not purchase it. This does not appear to be a problem in my opinion. Pellets, on the other hand, are kept in a bucket beneath the grill. It's possible that it would stand out more if it wasn't there. In any case, this extension allowed me to leave the grill cooking while I was away from home for a few hours without having to worry about running out of pellets. If you plan to smoke for an extended period of time, I suggest picking this up.
This is exactly what I needed and it works perfectly with my Pit Boss 456D. For longer smoking, I needed more hopper space.
For long cooks, this is a great addition. I don't cook briskets or pork butts on a regular basis, so being able to easily slide this on and off is fantastic! My tailgater's small pellet hopper is one of my favorites. Allows you to quickly switch out pellets for different meats or baking dishes. For longer cooks, the pellet box extender comes in handy. If I'm out on the tractor and can't get back to add more pellets, for example. It's simple to set up. Simply remove the lid from your hopper and place this one inside. There's no way it'll fall off because it's so snug.
For my 456D smoker, it's a perfect fit. Now I don't have to worry about running out of pellets because I can fill it up with plenty of them.
I need them to make a cover for the grill with the extension, not the other way around.
I bought it for my 456D and I love having more capacity. It works great and looks nice.
So far, this thing has been great. I have a small pit boss that I'm not sure will fit in my model 440, but it looks a lot like the tailgater. I was constantly concerned about running out of pellets and having to constantly replenish the hopper, which became tiresome. The setup is simple and ready to use right out of the box - Place the extension on top of the open hopper lid of the smoker. All you have to do now is open the extension lid and start filling it with pellets. The following are my only concerns:br>1- It simply sits on top, and if bumped, it could fall off. br>2- The bottom of the packaging will almost certainly be bent and may need to be bent back. I ordered two, but one was slightly dented than the other and refused to go into the hopper. With a slight bend back and an adjustable wrench, I was able to get right in. br>I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one now that it can hold a full bag of pellets!.
It enables me to cook continuously throughout the day without having to worry about running out of pellets.
