Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this bowl on my patio as a small 'firepit'? 'Real' ones are a lot more expensive! ?

I made a fire pit out of the smaller Smokey Joe. It works, but because they're designed to burn quickly down to coals, the wood seemed to burn pretty quickly; however, we were using pretty dry loose juniper wood, so it might work better with a different wood.

Is the box large enough to fit in a 30" x 19" suitcase? 5"x 8. 5" ? Or is it better to leave it as is?

I'm not sure, but it seems like it might work. The bowl portion is close to a number of eight. 5 inches. It might just work if they're all nested together.

Is the bottom vent identical to the top cover vent?

There are four vent holes on the top and three on the bottom. If either is too tight, loosen it with a wrench and a screwdriver. Oh, my goodness!

Is there a Jumbo Joe Gold cover or carry bag available?

RECOMMENDATION: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself If you're looking for a cover, you've come to the right place. For the Jumbo Joe, use the WEBER 6551 (weberQ 2000/2200 cover); It really works!

She took my favorite bbq grill when my girlfriend and I broke up
5/5

When my girlfriend and I broke up, she took my favorite bbq grill; I begged her to let me keep it. Let me tell you something: I never imagined I'd find the ideal barbecue grill. B***, you can keep your old s***; I've got the BEST bbq grill I've ever had, and you're never going to eat another one of my hamburgers. I bought the accessories to go with it because it was the perfect size. I'm hoping you're getting a whiff of my bbq right now, bit****. HA!.

I can't think of anything negative to say about this grill! This past weekend, I received my new Jumbo Joe
5/5

I hadn't cooked on a Weber Kettle in a long time, and I'd forgotten how wonderful they are. The first thing I did was go down to H Depot and get a barbecue thermometer, which I installed on the lid with a step drill, cutting a 1/2" hole, and it looked like it came from Weber. I can precisely control the heat for indirect cooks because I know my kettle temperature, which makes this grill even BETTER! I think this grill will last for years because it's so well made! Perfect for tailgating and camping trips, but large enough to cook for four people like a pro! If you're debating between the Jumbo and the Super Jumbo, this is the place to be. It's a no-brainer for Smokey Joe!.

It's definitely a step up from your average smoky joe
5/5

For years, I've relied on the standard Smokey Joe as my go-to camping/travel grill. I'll never use another one now that I've tried this one. Almost every time we do a triathlon, we do it as a team. When we go camping, I'd like to bring a tip or roast of some sort, but there's no way I could fit it in there. Cooking over indirect heat (i. e. , having enough space so your roast isn't directly over the coals) was nearly impossible and necessitated a lot of fiddling with the coals. It was also difficult to get it to cook evenly because the inside of the lid would always touch the top of the roast in a few spots. br>br>I understand that most people use the Smokey Joes for a few hamburgers or dogs (and they're fine for that), but I'm a bit more ambitious with my camping cuisine, and this grill gives you a lot more space, similar to what you get on the full 22. Although it has a 5" grill, it is almost as small as its predecessor. br>br>As an added bonus, the metal bar that runs the length of the grill serves two functions: it holds the lid off to the side for you so you don't have to worry about finding a safe place to put a large 500 degree piece of metal when you need to rotate or retrieve your food (which can be a problem for most people using this while traveling), and it also swivels up to snap in place over the lid's handle, which secures it in place for

So to sum it up, if you want a nice, convenient portable charcoal grill that is 90% as good as a full sized Weber one has in t However, if all you want to do is cook three or four burger patties, the standard Smokey Joe will suffice. br>br>Strongly suggested! br>br>.

Even though it's bigger, it's still small enough to take with you
4/5

I wanted a larger cooking surface while still maintaining portability, and the SJJ is ideal; there was a minor chip in the coating inside the kettle near one of the leg fastening holes, but nothing worth returning; overall, it's a great grill for home or camping, and the locking lid is a great feature.

It's versatile and suitable for everyday cooking as well as travel
5/5

For a typical growing family of 4 to 6 people, this Weber is the ideal size for grilling pork/lamb chops, steaks, and sausages. It has 18" of cooking space, which is more than the Smokey Joe model's 14" of cooking space, and the grilling grate sits a little higher from the coals than the Smokey Joe, which I prefer. When compared to a standard 22" Weber grill, you'll only need about half as much coal to cook the items listed above, which is a significant savings if you grill for the family on a regular basis. I also have the 22" model, which I only use when we have visitors and I need to cook a lot of meat, or when I'm grilling whole chickens, other lamb or pork legs/shoulders, or ribs. I wouldn't cook whole cuts of meat in this 18" model because it would be difficult to keep the temperature reflecting from the lid down, and you'd most likely end up burning the meat from the top, as well as from the sides, because the meat would be sitting too close to the coals, even if the coals were pushed to the sides of the grill. Another feature I like about this grill is the latching mechanism, which keeps the lid securely closed when not in use and also acts as a lid holder while cooking. It also makes transportation extremely safe and simple. It's very practical.

But it's a cool grill
3/5

Cool grill, but the top vent is stiff and difficult to turn, Weber. This is my first Weber grill, and my $20 grill is far superior. I expected more from Weber $69. 99 isn't worth itbr>br>Update: I've only used this grill twice and it's already rusted my $20 grill from Wal-Mart. Mart, I've had it for three years and it's never rusted. I tried to give it a positive review, but Weber, you disappointed me. Good video reviews are why I bought one. I will never buy another Weber brand because they are not well made. I will continue to use my $20 grill. smh I want my money back keep your grill. I learned a lesson that name brands are not always good quality.
