A propane starter was not included with this grill, but a true charcole triller would not require one!
I replaced an older version of the Weber Performer that I had purchased in 2004/2005, and it had finally rusted out after ten years of regular use. I was worried that the new Performer I bought in 2015 would be a "budget" version of my old one. I was completely off the mark! br>br>The new Weber Performer is a strong, well-built machine. The design is both attractive and practical. As I recall, when I was putting the new unit together, I was impressed by the materials' strength, and four years later, it confirmed my initial impression. I regularly cook steaks at 500 degrees and would compare this grill to grills costing three times as much. I would strongly suggest it.

This grill is fantastic. It would be 5 stars easy if all you did was grill. If you want to use the rotisserie ring, however, you should skip this step. I received two rings from Weber, but neither of them fit properly. They swayed from side to side, and there were large gaps all around them. I could "hug" it to make it fit more snugly, but why should I have to? br>br>I took a measurement of the bottom bowl and found that one of the directions was 22. 5" from the inside of the bowl to the outside. The number 22 was in the opposite direction. 5" from the edge of the bowl to the edge of the bowl. As a result, it was noticeably off-kilter. The mounts do not have enough slack to stretch the bottom bowl into a round shape. br>br>That's a major flaw in the production process. I purchased two of these grills, and they both had the same issue. br>br>Again, if you're only grilling, it's fantastic. However, the rotisserie kit is completely useless if you want to use it.
The grill is lovely; however, the front screws that hold the work table in place did not go all the way down, leaving the table loose. I had to make my own shims to go underneath the table and tighten it up. Aside from that, it's a pretty good grill. I guess I was hoping for more from Weber in terms of quality.
This grill was delivered only a few days ago. It's a tough piece. It took me a couple of hours to put together as a somewhat handy 65-year-old woman. The instructions were simple to follow, but putting together the lid holder proved to be difficult. On that point, the directions photos were a little shaky, but there are 3-D models available online. I chose to use the included direction manual instead of the D app's instructions. This grill is extremely well-made and heavy-duty, so I expect it to last for many years of grilling. The large, sturdy table area to the right of the grill, as well as the built-in charcoal bin (which holds 30 lbs), are both big pluses. A thermometer is built into the lid. A large, detachable grease "pail" is attached to the grill's bottom and easily removed. The lid holder is also a nice touch. I really like this grill and can't wait to use it.
The Amazon offer of free assembly (worth $137) is completely false. I received an email from Amazon the day before it arrived saying, "Sorry, there is no assembly service in your area. " The truth is that it's simple to put together, so I'm fine with it; however, if you had any issues that prevented you from putting it together, you'd have to hire someone. The box weighs 70 pounds when delivered, making it difficult to move, let alone lift. I simply opened it at my front door and carried the components to the back porch to assemble them.
For more than 40 years, I've used Weber kettles. This one is made of a lighter weight material than the others. The product came with two defective parts, which is my main gripe: the cap for the leg frame, as well as the leg frame itself A threaded nut for the frame had come loose, and half of the cap was missing. Fortunately, despite the poor instructions and defective parts, I was able to put the grill together. I just got off the phone with a Weber representative who has placed an order for replacement parts on my behalf. The only reason I gave three stars instead of two is because of this.
Webers have been my go-to grill for decades, and I've never been disappointed. Our previous kettle had been smashed a few times while backing out of the garage, so it didn't close properly. I recently bought a Weber 15401001 Performer Premium Charcoal Grill for myself and am very pleased with it. It's well-made, and the larger steel table top suits me perfectly. Second, I have a number of worn-out spinal discs as a result of my age, so the 4 inch cooking surface is a small but welcome addition. br>br>My only concern right now is that- I can't get the digital timer out because the date is when I inserted it in its proper place. Furthermore, because so much of cooking is about temperature rather than time, I don't use a timer very often. A bluetooth thermal probe would have been an excellent addition. I've been using a ThermoPro TP-100 thermometer for a while now. For many years, I've been using the 07 Wireless BBQ Meat Thermometer. It has proven to be a good investment for both indoor and outdoor cooking.
But don't panic - there's nothing to be concerned about. Because it's a Weber grill, it's backed by a fantastic company with a long history of providing excellent customer service. I had two replacement parts on their way to me under warranty with just one phone call. You might be able to find cheaper grills, but I guarantee they aren't made by Weber. A plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus plus (Excuse me for the terrible grilling pun):.
I decided to upgrade my old Weber by spending a little extra money. Both pieces of the leg support were damaged when they arrived. It will be convenient to have a built-in table. br>br>(Edit): This review has been upgraded to a five-star rating. Customer service at Weber has been contacted, and replacement parts are on their way. Customer service was simple to work with and not at all inconvenient. My BBQ was even registered with them.
