Questions & Answers

The 5650 combo grill is what I have. Is this box large enough to hold my grill?

Yes, it is appropriate. However, the setup is a bit flimsy. The metal on the side of the grill where you bolt it on is fairly thin, and it leans slightly due to the weight of the side fire box. Between the firebox and the cooking chamber, I placed some metal spacers. You'll want to have this grill where you want it permanently once you add the side firebox, so there should be a metal bracket running from the smoker box to the leg of the grill and bolted on for support. Because the wheels are on the other side, you must now lift the unit using the handle on the side firebox. It was too flimsy to lift the unit with that handle alone; it felt like it was about to snap. I removed the wheels and mounted four heavy-duty rubber wheels on the four legs so that I can roll it wherever I want without having to lift it on one side.br>You might also try to make a baffle or deflector for the inside of the cooking chamber, because there is no adjustment controlling the heat and smoke distribution entering the grill chamber. Because of the current design, the meat on the side with the firebox cooks more quickly. The airflow can be controlled by adjusting the smoker box air input and the smoke stack, but this does nothing to ensure that the heat is distributed evenly inside the grill. Heat and smoke will follow the air flow, but this isn't the most efficient design. You'll have to rotate your food or keep it as far away as possible from the opening. or devise a method of diffusing direct heat until it reaches the cooking chamber. br>There's a circular "knock-out" that you can use to make this even more versatile. Both sides of the gas chamber cover have "out" written on them. A rotisserie can be added to the gas side of this grill with a little creativity. That, in my opinion, is what truly distinguishes it as an "All-Star" performance. There will be only one winner. Because the motor sits above the side burner, you can't use the side burner and the rotisserie at the same time, but it's an excellent modification. I believe I had to drill new holes for the mounting bracket and shorten the spit so it didn't extend past the grill side and into the charcoal chamber lid. It's been covered for several months now, as winter is just coming to an end here. I bought it in the fall and only used it once before covering it, so I'm not sure which model of rotisserie kit I used. br>I hope that this information is useful. Dave

Is this compatible with the 2828?

Is this going to work with the 2929?

Is this available with a bolted side panel or a knock out version?

It includes a bolted side panel.

My chargriller is the model 2929. What is the procedure for installing the model 22424 side firebox?

If it's bigger than the 2828 chargrilled, that's what I had. I matched it up on the outside just to be sure. I removed the wheel from the large grill, screwed it together, and then replaced the wheel, and everything went together smoothly. It is much easier if you have the proper tools.

After a little tweaking, it's quite nice
4/5

This is a nice smoker attachment for my 5650 grill, which I purchased. The holes on the legs of the 5650 did not line up, so I had to drill them out a little to get the bolts to fit. That, I believe, is a problem with the 5650 rather than this. Look at the images below. br>br>The other issue, as mentioned in several reviews, is that the spacers are far too short, unless you don't mind having your smoker attachment mounted at a downward angle. According to one review, you can contact their customer service department and they will send you the appropriate length spacers. I made a few at work, and they're great. My level was achieved by adding 3/4" to the length. You'll also require two 2-inch x 2-inch x 2-inch x 2-inch x 2-inch Bolts that are 1/2" long. The two-inch ones that come with the smoker will be insufficient. br>br>I recently finished installing it on my 5650 grill. If the paint begins to peel prematurely or if another issue arises later, I will update my review. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: I gave Char a call. After I finished writing this review, I contacted Griller CS and requested the proper length spacers. It took nearly two weeks for them to arrive, but they were accompanied by two 2-liter bottles of water. 1/2" bolts and two 1-inch bolts are used in this project. When the smoker box is attached to the grill, 3/4" spacers keep it nice and level. There is no charge for the parts; all you have to do is provide them with the serial number from the smoker's back. One of the original spacers that came with the unit is shown below, as well as the replacement that I recently received. I seasoned it as directed, and hopefully there will be no paint peeling.

Hardware is missing
3/5

Is it true that this review "could not be submitted in its current state"? br>br>There was a lot of missing hardware. When I called Char Griller's customer service, they seemed unconcerned about my dissatisfaction. In the next ten days or so, I should have replacement hardware. What good is quick shipping if the product isn't complete? As for me, I'm going to the hardware store to get my own parts. Griller appears to be unable to meet the needs of his customers.

DO NOT ATTACH THIS TO THE DOUBLE PLAY MODEL 5650 UNTIL YOU READ THIS (YOU WILL REQUIRE ADDITIONAL CHAR-GEL PARTS)
4/5

GRILLER)! I bought the Char- My Char-Griller E22424 will be used as a side fire box for my Char-Griller E22424. Model 5650 of the Griller Double Play. The SPACER TUBES that come with this product are designed for use with a different model than the 5650. The side fire box will bend downward at a severe angle if you use the spacer tubes that come with the E22424. To make it work, I made some tubes out of scrap rain gutter parts. When I called customer service to inquire about this, they admitted that they don't include parts to attach to the 5650, but there is nothing about this in the instructions (she said something about the parts being sent for use as a Table Top Grill, which makes no sense because you don't need spacer tubes if you're buying this as a table top grill). They sent the correct-sized spacer tubes, which arrived two days later. Take a look at the photo to see the difference between the correct spacer tube and the one being held next to it (the one that came with the original shipment). br>I hope people read this before attaching, because if they don't, you'll either have a side fire box that angles diagonally to the ground (not level), or you'll have to wait two more days to use it.

CHAR- CHAR- CHAR- CHAR- CHAR- CHAR- CHAR- CHAR- NOT AMAZON, BUT GRILL
3/5

In the direction of Char- Not the Amazon, but the grill. After the first use, this item was completely devoid of paint. The entire top part and back part of the body bubble up and flake off within 10 minutes, not just in one spot. Per Char- We used wood and charcoal to warm the grill because they wouldn't warranty it if you used more than 15 small briskets. As a result, since they claim we did it incorrectly, there is no warranty. Well, I guess you should only use it for hot dogs because anything else will overheat it! Worst customer service I've ever encountered! Consumers who are fed up! br>Amazon provided excellent service and timely delivery as usual.

Excellent grilling! This is a very nice grill! When I first read the reviews for the paint, I was a little concerned
5/5

I'm also in possession of Char- I used Crisco on the Griller 5050 unit, and according to the instructions on the 5050, a light coat of cooking oil should be applied before use. I've been using it since 2424 and haven't had any issues.

This grill is extremely portable
5/5

There is one flaw. So, this is the second time I've written a Char- Tabletop Charcoal Grill by Griller E22424. I recently retired the one I purchased in 2013, and after many years of dependable service, I was so pleased with it that I purchased the exact same model as a replacement. br>br>Despite the fact that I frequently use a small Hibachi, this grill is my personal favorite. steaks, chicken, corn on the cob, and larger quantities of burgers and brats are on the decline. dogs. Using the pulley system The ability to use the ash drawer to add wood smoking chips to the coals after the food has finished cooking is a huge plus, as it imparts a nice smoky flavor without the use of a separate smoker. The bottom line Top dampers are ideal for supplying air to the coal while also trapping smoke. br>br>One piece of advice for current and prospective homeowners: Heavy-duty tape should be used to cover the ash drawer's curved bottom. Each time you use aluminum foil, make sure it's heavy duty. My first grill was doomed by rusting out of the bottom of the ash drawer, which was caused by allowing the ash to remain in contact with the metal for an extended period of time (especially if it was wet). To be honest, it was probably my fault, but I did notice the new grill's charcoal grate is made of thicker steel than the previous one. br>br>This is a great deal at $66 with free shipping.
