I finally found what I was looking for in one of my bags I stabbed my hand open and writhed in pain There was a nail sticking out of a piece of wood with a sharp end and the source of the noise was I don't think that's right! Since I stuck this thing nearly an inch into my hand, I feel as though I deserve an apology. To make things even worse, a whopping 4/5 of the bags contained actual chunks of food. Rather than chips, I bought chunks of wood. In one bag, almost all the chunks were present - this bag was excellent A & B In my opinion, if I got that bag all the time (without a nail in it), I'd give it a 5 star rating. You'll make an awesome meal if you're lucky enough to find chunks. With this wood, you'll feel like you're in awe of it Flavors and textures that are out of this world I was able to burn very cleanly. Besides chicken, pork and beef, it's great for other kinds of meat as well All kinds of meat are allowed. Before becoming Weber Wood Chunks again, I want to give this a little more time. A & B It would be nice if they had fixed some of these issues already.
Can you tell me if the chunks of wood are 100%? My experience with the bags of hickory and apple wood was negative about 60% of the bags were wood chunks, approximately 10 grams each A total of 15% of that 60% has too much bark, and the rest are chips of small to medium size. While it would be nice to have a few smaller pieces in there, almost half of the bag is chips, so this product is pretty disappointing in terms of value. Quality of wood/taste of wood The wood is not very good, though it might be better. Pay what you want, and you'll get what you want! It should be noted, however, that all of these bagged chips/blocks/chunks are going to look Is Burn Time reliable? Not sure.
I have noticed that some of these chunks burn very well while others burn too quickly or inconsistently. I feel this is just an OK product which can help you in a pinch if you don't have much else to do.
For an idea of the number of tiny pieces, see the image.
I'm so tired of rushing back and forth. Here is my item and it is far from "chunks"! I just received it today. I find it annoying to get LARGE SPLINTERS every time I order chunks. A large number of chips make up the entirety of the package. Returning things is exhausting at best. I am so tired of running back and forth. This is NOT a chunk of cheese.
It would be more like chips than chunks, but still bigger than chips. These are not something I would buy As you can see from the photo, most of the pieces are about an inch wide. The whole bag contains approximately five chunks of this material. It's not clear how I'm going to use these as the will burn too quickly in my smoker.
Weber Products like my WSM and Kettle are fantastic, but this is my first time ordering from WEBER, and I found a curled up strip of plastic on top of the wood chunks, I thought it was wood, but upon closer examination, it was a piece of plastic. Over all, I tried pecan for the first time as a smoked drum-I wasn't happy about it, but got to try it for the first time anyway I made sticks out of this wood and was very, very pleased with the results. The quality control issue nearly caused me to give it 5 stars, but I decreased it to 3 due to the issue. Normally, I don't buy Weber stuff, in part because there are so many other companies who make similar products however, I wanted to try everything Weber because of the name, and the wood is good, but that thin plastic curly strip was not my cup of tea.
Weber has received complaints about the quality of the chunks of wood it provides for smoking. I believe that this is my second review, as my very first took place My recent order of Apple, Pecan, and Cherry chunks is shown in the two photos below. The size of chunks in the bags I received can be seen from my hand, which is 9" long from thumb to pinky. Whenever I dump out each bag, here is a picture of about half of each. The chunks are for smoking, not for eating. Trust the company you are buying from.
The results are amazing with just 1 bag, 10 lbs of pork, and 12 hours in the WSM. Even though I had read reviewers complaining about getting more chips than chunks, I decided to take the chance and try it. There are two bags in my order that look to be the same as the picture on I think there are a few scraps but not enough to make a cup of tea from. In total, I smoked a pair of five-pound pork shoulders for 12 hours. From one bag, I was able to retain a healthy amount of smoke during the entire process. The finished product has a terrific flavor. In the future, I will purchase this item.
