Questions & Answers

What is the burning rate of this kindling? Fatwood is nothing but smolder when I've bought it before. ?

I had a problem that could not be solved without this kindling. My fireplace insert works very well with this wood, and it burns long enough to get a good fire going. I had good hard wood and matches on hand, but had difficulty finding With the fatwood I finally bought (I find both sizes useful) and with the ZIP fire starters I just discovered, I am able to use it effectively. When I light the ZIP fire starter, I arrange a circle of fatwood and kindling around it. I don't match it until after I have arranged the firewood and kindling around it! The process of building a fire has become much easier.

Does this kindling make sense for use with a wood-burning ?

Good evening, *br> *br> Yes, thank you As these are small kindling sticks, you might need to add some larger pieces of wood, but this kindling would allow your fire to burn hotter.

If I needed half the size pieces, would I be able to handle these easily by hand?

Handle with care, as it is not easily broken

Do feather sticks work well with this wood?

Hi. For kindling sticks, they come in a pretty small size, but I believe that they are These ceramic tiles are kiln dried so they light up in a flash without having to feather them. By making this purchase, you may also be buying time.

You should use them only if you are actually familiar with how they work! The negative reviews are from people who do not know how to build a fire, and somehow think that if they light these with a match or lighter, they will create a fire
5/5

This is not an equivalent to a duraflame or other toxic garbage. It makes excellent kindling and is very useful if you know how to build a fire. If you don't, go onto YouTube or something so you can learn how it works and how to build a fire.
These suckers can also be used with some fatwood or something else that can withstand a flame easily as secondary kindling so that whatever ignites your fire will catch and burn very hot after the fatwood or paper or whatever ignites the fire catches fire. If you don't know how to build a fire properly, don't criticize a really good product. It isn't the manufacturer's fault you don't know what you are doing. It is up to you to learn how to do this one properly. The first thing you need to do is to LEARN first.

Sorry for the rant, but it's so typical that people who don't know what they're doing will write For more than 30 years I have been building fires, and it's not a skill that you learn over night. There are several kinds of kindling you need, each one slightly larger than the last, so that your fire can consume them all at once. There is no such thing as light them with a match and somehow expect it to be good enough.

Here are the instructions - 1) use 3) this kindling of cedar. There should also be 3) larger kindling (twice the size of these guys), 4) small/medium-sized woods, and 5) as soon as the fire is firmly established, when the larger pieces are added to maintain the fire.

The way things used to be is no longer the same
3/5

The box I bought last year was so good, I decided to buy another one. There is definitely a difference between these two things. As a result, every piece is still a sliver of kindling, and there are exponentially more pieces than there were The pieces from last year compared with this year (side by side).

They are making it right, but it will not be a cubic foot! Cedar wood is used for the pieces, and they are large and of excellent quality
4/5

My insert needed kindling and this was just right.
Not so great on the supply. I did not get a cubic foot of it. There is nothing inside the box - I checked the dimensions and they are 12"x12"x12", There are about half of the contents missing. Here's what's new I have contacted the seller and they have responded swiftly to my concerns. A second box will be sent to me soon. They were able to increase their rating because of it The first couple of days have gone well!.

There are twelve pieces, each measuring about 12 inches long by 1 inch wide
5/5

The thickness of this material is 25”. As I am using it to start a wood stove, it is just what I need. With a couple of pieces of fatwood and a handful of these hardwood slats, you can light up your stove As I add larger pieces of firewood, I gradually increase the firewood's size. The $40 cost of this kindling makes it a tad expensive, so it will be interesting to see how long it keeps burning. It has the potential to save me a lot of money if I'm able to use this box for a full winter.

There is something to be said for So I can close the door, I use them in a wood stove so I don't have sparks I have never used anything like that before, but it sparks much more than I do
4/5

The idea of continuing to use it is appealing, but the rusting makes me think twice.

It's a good product for using with a fireplace
5/5

Regarding an article I read about this product causing excessive smoke or burning too hot, I am writing to set the record straight. It made me think twice about buying and using the product in my fireplace after reading these concerns. It was not necessary for me to observe either of these concerns while using the kindling. In this case, the kindling burned as it.

The one-word sentence The lighting on step logs is dim
5/5

As operators of a fireplace insert, we provide a wide range of services When it's cold outside, we have a fire in the family room. It is easiest to start the fire with oak logs seasoned with seasonings. As large logs take a while to catch fire, we need to keep the stove door ajar until they catch light to provide additional air. However, once six sticks of kindling have been added, the fire begins to burn quickly when the stove door is The convenience is much greater.
