Selected User Reviews For Bayou Classic B159, Outdoor Fish Cooker with Cast Iron Fry Pot
I enjoy cast-iron cooking, so Bayou Classic products are a natural fit for me. Pros: 1) a sturdy and secure burner stand (not too tall); 2) a high-quality Dutch oven a lid, a basket, and a handle, and a long-lasting battery steel that is long-lasting hose with braded ends, and 5) what appears to be a high-quality high-performance high-performance high-performance high-performance high-performance high-performance high- a temperature cooking thermometer, a set of easy-to-follow instructions, and a set of all the necessary parts. Cons: 1) The B159 Fish Fryer has an aluminum burner instead of a long-burning gas burner, which earns it four stars. "tried" for a long time Cast iron burner that is true to its name. br>br>Correction dated 3/10/19: It's on the stove. . . Because it is made of cast iron rather than aluminum, it receives a five-star rating. I first assumed it was made of aluminum because I don't recall ever seeing silver-colored cast iron in my life, and I'm 72 years old. Regardless, it was an error on my part.
Rabbit. br>br>For longer than I care to admit, I've been frying wings, fish, fries, chips, okra, hush puppies, and everything in between in my old-fashioned fryer, and my old-fashioned fryer is still going strong. The trusty fryer had reached the end of his life. The old Morrone had a good run for 30 or 40 years, but I was hesitant to replace it with something else because of my reservations. Bayou, on the other hand, proved to be a reliable ally. br>br>Everything that came with my old fryer. This version is superior. A stainless steel braided gas line, an adjustable regulator, a cast iron pot instead of the old steel bowl, a lid that wouldn't blow off (and critters couldn't lift off), and stable legs that were a few inches taller to keep my old self from bending down any further than I had to. br>br>The thick cast iron pot keeps the oil temperature consistent (don't buy an aluminum fryer for anything but turkeys) and the whole thing is rock solid. br>br>Bayou didn't pay me for this glowing review, but if they did, I'd tell them to keep it and give it to the people in their shipping department who have to pack this monster into a box and get it here in perfect condition. You did an excellent job.
This is the best grill I've ever bought for the outdoors. This is my third, and it's fantastic for wings, fish, fries, and other heavy-duty foods. The stainless hose has been upgraded, as well as the cast iron pot, aluminum basket, thermometer, and lid. When the package arrives, it is extremely heavy. It's a little taller than some other outdoor grills. Installation was simple, and I seasoned my pot and lid in accordance with other reviews. Cook for 1 hour at 300 degrees on the grill, covered in vegetable oil. To make clean-up easier and prevent food from sticking to the strainer basket, I lightly coat it with vegetable oil. Unlike other aluminum pots, the cast iron pot maintains a consistent temperature. Bugs and critters are kept out of the hot oil by the lid. After reading the instructions, it appears that the large stock pots are not to be used. This, I believe, is due to the larger overall diameter and taller base. It's possible to make it work, but I believe it's more of a safety concern. It costs a little more than other cookers, but you get what you pay for.
With two exceptions, this fryer is excellent. I wish the basket was made of stainless steel instead of aluminum because it is more difficult to clean. I wish there was an option to upgrade to SS. The thermometer is essential for good results; mine fogged up inside on the first use and continues to fog up. br>Now for the good news: the burner produces a good amount of heat and the stand is sturdy; additionally, the cast iron dutch oven is a good size with excellent heat retention.
Priced reasonably. This is a high-quality fryer that is built to last. The cast iron cook pot (which is actually a cast iron dutch oven) helps keep frying temperatures consistent. This is what I use when I cook a lot of tempura for our annual Japanese New Year's party. Because of the constant cooking temperature, the results are excellent.
During Hurricane Florence's aftermath, this small cooker proved to be very useful. During the week-long power outage, we were able to feed our family and neighbors hot meals.
I was disappointed to discover that the Brunner mount had bent. But that's not all! PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERF The feedback was accurate! The heat is perfectly maintained in the cast iron Dutch oven! I used it in 32° weather and the temperature didn't drop much.
If you don't want your space to smell or you need large batches of something, this is the place to be!.
