This solar panel is small and light, and I can fold it up to make it the size of a book, which fits easily into my backpack. This solar panel appeals to me because it includes a variety of adapters.
This is a well-made and sturdy portable solar charger. On a bright sunny day in southern California, I can get up to 42 watts of power. When you take into account physics-related losses, it all makes sense. Could a 288wh power generator be fully charged in 4 hours using VOCC charging at 2800mah? 6 hours (if the solar panel is moved to the best position as the sun moves). br>br>Some standard connectors are missing, so you may need to purchase adapters. Do your homework in this regard.
I tried out a different brand of 60 watt solar panel that was portable and foldable. I returned it because it didn't seem to work properly and there were too many parts to keep track of. I also didn't think a panel that folded in half like a map would last very long without breaking. I'm glad I took the time to try out this Aires panel. It works well, has only two folds, and is small enough to transport easily. It also connects to my solar battery/power station perfectly. I also like the built-in stand(s) for angling it to the sun.
Just keep your expectations in check. Excellent craftsmanship. Just be careful not to have unrealistic expectations. I was able to reach a maximum power output of 43 watts. I was able to achieve 48 watts for a brief period, but it averaged 43 watts during the four times I used it. I bought it as a backup and do not intend to use it frequently. It appears to be well-made and light. Look for a different panel if you require more watts.
I've never seen it charge more than 50 watts. It still does the job, but no matter how I set it up, rearrange it, or turn it to face the sun, it will not go higher. Perhaps it's just my imagination. When I'm camping, I'll use it to power my solar generator.
This was not a cheap purchase. We squandered our funds because it does not charge properly or quickly enough. I wouldn't mind paying a higher price if it worked well.
Due to the fact that this solar panel has two USB ports, it may be possible to eliminate the battery.
