Questions & Answers

Do you have a solar power system that has a battery backup and you need a switch that would shut off power when the utility goes offline?

You might also be concerned about the amount of power that your solar/battery system can provide. A special "emergency load" panel must be run from your home's breaker box to carry all the emergency loads that don't overload the batteries or solar panels. There is likely no mention of the air conditioner, oven, or clothes dryer, for example. In that case, the transfer switch must connect only those loads when the main power goes out. It is actually very good that there is a 30 second delay. As soon as it comes back online, it will make sure the utility power is reliable. don't try to do this on your own! Hire a licensed and experienced electrician to do this for you!

Can you tell me how much noise it makes?

This generator makes a big "snap" when switching from campground power to the generator, and vice versa, but it does not make a noise when it is

Are there latches on the lid of the box that allow it to be opened?

By prying the latches open with a screwdriver between the lid and the case, the lid can be opened. It will probably be necessary to use a very short screwdriver, but not impossible, if you mount the box (as I did) with little in the way of clearance around it.

The half of the breaker panel that doesn't work when my generator is connected to l1+n+ground is on my generator. Do you know what I need to do to solve this problem? I can connect both sides using a 240v 50A plug, but only one side is working?

How the transfer switch was wired will probably be the key to finding the answer. In this panel, half of the power comes from each phase of the 240-volt power supply. It's necessary to supply both halves of the generator with 120v if one phase is 120v. A jumper can be used on the generator line side of the transfer switch to accomplish this. It would be a bad idea to have it on the load side. You should have two connections on the utility power line and two on the generator line, if your wiring is correct.

This is bad! A number of appliances were destroyed
3/5

On the third transfer, the neutral pole on the generator contractor failed to pass current, which resulted in floating neutrals so bad that $400 worth of equipment was destroyed before I realized what was happening and turned My voltmeter proves the cable does not connect. Now all I need to do is see how Southwire will live up to its.

I found this to work perfectly
5/5

Be patient, as it takes about 45 seconds for the shoreline generator to shift to the internal generator. The generator will then be able to warm up for one minute. The switch from shore power to generator seems to happen instantly once you turn it off. Don't assume it is damaged or broken, that is normal. There is a clicking sound when the generator takes over, so don't worry. Considering how long it took me to install this, I am surprised I waited so long. Having one of these installed in an RV is something I'll never do again.

Whenever I plug my computer into shore power, I hear a constant buzzing noise
5/5

Having called and asked, there is nothing that can be done to resolve the buzzing noise. This is probably because the relays are at the lowest price that the manufacturer can obtain. It's important to me as well to keep costs low.

Consequently, I am now able to check the Perhaps they will reach out to me after seeing this very disapointing review. Hold on to your breath, I won't.

It was necessary for me to edit Hopefully, it will not be a problem

Plugging a 15A GFI receptacle into my house There is a 11mA difference between line and neutral, so the outlet will trip every time. But other than that, it is fine.

I was very happy with the device at this price
4/5

It works perfectly. Besides the plastic case, I did not like anything else about the product. It's not like I would have complained if it had cost another five bucks!.
