Questions & Answers
It was about a foot long, four or five inches deep, and eight inches wide.
Staghorn ferns are a new species to me. This is what I use to pad orchid mounts and small pots with. This method would be ideal for padding a wooden mount with ferns. I wouldn't put this in a large basket because it will hold a lot of water and become soggy. It's easier to line a wire basket with a coco fiber liner, loose coarse coir fiber (coconut fiber), or a coco fiber mat in a sheet if you're lining a wire basket. Before using, give it a good soak. Best of luck!
When the moss is wet, it darkens slightly, and you'll know when it's time to water - When it dries, it lightens up again. It'll take on a more crisp appearance after that. I hope this information is useful and that you have a lot of fun growing.
It has a neutral ph to the best of my knowledge.

This is an excellent product. br>br>I needed some high-quality sphagnum moss for my orchids' substrate component. Phalaenopsis, oncidium, paphiopedilum, and a variety of other unusual plants are among the plants I keep. This spring, some of them had to be replanted. I have epiphytes as well as terrestrial orchids in my collection. Every orchid I have is in its own special mix, which is designed to provide the right amount of air, moisture, and nutrients to each plant. Some of my orchids are raised in a semi-natural environment. Potted solely in LECA (in gravel form, Turface) in a hydro style. However, not all of them thrive in that environment, which is where sphagnum moss enters the picture. br>br>I make use of: In various combinations, bark, moss, lava rock, coconut chips, charcoal, turface, and occasionally perlite are used. br>br>In my mixes, sphagnum moss plays a large role. It has good water retention, aeration, and antimicrobial properties when loosely packed. This moss is of exceptional quality. br>br> On the Spagmoss website, they explain how the moss is sourced, and it shows in the product's quality: it's hand-picked from cultivated moss fields in New Zealand and flown to processing centers by helicopter, where it's carefully cleaned and air-dried. The strands are in good condition and are extremely long and fluffy. When you soak it in water, the brick form it comes in expands a lot. To pot up 5 different orchids (mixed with other substrate amendments), I only needed a large handful of it dry. br>br>To pot up an orchid quickly, soak the moss in a small bucket and gently squeeze it to remove most of the water until it is damp. It's best to work on a tray so you can mix up your substrate without making a huge mess. Wearing gloves can help. Fill in any gaps in and around the root ball with moss pieces mixed in with the rest of your amendments. br>br>If you're looking for a high-quality sphagnum moss that will last for years, look no further. This stuff is incredible!.
I've bought from you before. This is the third time I've bought it. Every time I've used it, I've been very pleased, and there has never been any debris. There were a lot of long moss strings. It's nice and tidy! I put it in a zip lock bag and soak it in water. In the shade on the lanai, store leftovers in the same ziplock bag. Over time, some of it begins to grow and green up in the bag. When the bag is stored, it will never get mold or other problems. Love it. Fill a gallon zip lock bag halfway with the package, add water, and it will hydrate to fill the 1 gal. See the photos for a zip lock bag. Two 1 gallon zip lock bags of moistened sphagnum moss can be made from a brick of dry sphagnum moss. This product was purchased at full price.
A 35-liter bag had been purchased previously.
I've gotten some that have sticks attached to them. I needed high-quality Sphagnum Moss to keep my Orchid collection going strong. There are various types of moss available, and the majority of those on the market are of low quality. In my moss, I've found some with sticks, random debris, and other such things. Mold grew in my plants almost immediately after I repotted them because of some moss. Even after a hydrogen peroxide treatment. br>The Garden Center I'm familiar with repots. They use a huge pale of moss that I haven't seen anywhere else but that is extremely high quality and long-lasting. That moss's name or brand is currently eluding me. This sphagnum moss, on the other hand, has the same quality but in a much more compact package. br>br>The quality is excellent and it accomplishes the task at hand. There were no issues with the packaging at all.
I wouldn't use it in the house, and I wouldn't use it on my prized outdoor plants for fear of disrupting the soil's balance. I'm not sure where the dreadful biological contaminant came from, in production or in the warehouse, but the problem must be addressed immediately. Is it really their intention to pack it up and ship it back for a refund?.
It was $20 when I bought it, but it now appears to be $15. quality- I only had to pick out one twig, and some of the strands are quite long. Using my Nepenthes plant with a small root structure, it covered and filled two 7x8x7-inch pots (not to the top). I should have ordered coconut and other items to subsidize this sphagnum moss, wrapping only the roots, so that my moss would have gone to a better use. In general, this was a good buy.
The new growth has been faster than any other medium I've used before, and the 12 liter size was more than enough for 10 plants, with extra space for more plants later. It's well worth the money because it's clean and free of the junk that many other mosses contain.
I use this product to mount orchids, and it does a fantastic job. This is something that expert growers swear by. It comes in a surprisingly small brick, but when you add water, it expands dramatically. Sphagnum from New Zealand is far superior to the low-cost domestic sphagnum available at big box stores such as Home Depot.
