Although I don't know the name of the moss in the south you are referring to, I am familiar with the look you are trying to achieve. The moss here is dry but you might be able to get it to work if you wet it. Adding some of this moss to a sheer gauze dyed light green for a more natural look would make this feel more realistic.
This is what I use to line the basket of a wrought iron fence. I am not sure how it would hold up if left exposed to the elements. It is under a covered porch, though. House finches take it in order to make nests, which is one of the biggest problems
That is something I am not sure about. If you aren't sure what to do, your best bet would be to contact a nursery with experience in this field. If you move a tree that bears fruit indoors, the process becomes a little more complicated.

It doesn't have a lot in the bag, but it does exactly what it is described as. Weighting the material in pounds, as one reviewer suggested, is silly, since it is so light It is heavy. As a result of finding that it is an excellent fit for me, here is the size I found There is a nearly natural Ficus growing by my home. I ordered a Listo SRA16001P02 Sierra Planter in Nordic Bronze, 16-inch. The width of a sheet is inches. A large bent piece of cardboard from the tree box was used to build a level surface near the top of the pot. An old bath towel was then used to cover the cardboard to provide a more even surface. I placed the tree in the pot and covered the cardboard with an old bath towel. A small bag of this Spanish Moss covered the tree in a pot of this width exactly, and there was literally enough to cover the tree in the pot. Please take note My first reaction before removing it from its bag was that it was very "dusty" and had an unpleasant smell. If you wear contact lenses or suffer from asthma, open your own bags with caution.
The problem may stem from an ignorance of what the real spanish moss looks like, so I may be complaining about my lack of knowledge. While I suppose I had no problems with the Spanish moss, it was filled with twigs, roots, dirt clods, and trash. Some of the trash did not get removed, but I cleaned out most of it. Having said that, the moss filled the entire planter, so I guess it was successful, but I was hoping it would just contain moss. Spanish moss is not real, so I guess I should have bought fake Spanish moss.
This feels like really good quality moss. I combined it with green moss, then placed it along the corners of the pot. It looks real life-like, and it adds a lot of depth to it.
There was a lot of Luster Leaf Spanish Moss available as The material in the bags is packed extremely densely. When I purchased two bags, I was amazed how densely it Moss usually breaks apart in your hand when you try to pull it apart, leaving more residue than substance behind. As a result of the package, my project was more than completed, and there was so much left over that I decided to tackle another one. Highly recommended.
In order to force bulbs, I used this material to cover the potting medium in pots. You have to work to extract a handful of moss from its tangle in the package, and it sheds dust and particles as it moves around. We did not receive any instructions. The material had apparently been pre-edited but little is known about this It must be washed, boiled, or otherwise treated. My guess is that it won't happen. The strands are easy to form into a pad, and the pad covers the soil nicely, so water won't splash on it when the plants are watered and moisture can be conserved.
The product lives up to its claims. It does not appear dyed or altered in any way from its natural state as shown in the picture. This hat was even covered in pine needles. I wanted perfect and exactly what I got.
Love this, will use it on all my indoor house plants. I like the natural color it has rather than those that are tinted pink or red and look awkward. There are so many plants in my yard that I will buy again and again. Your product is great, thank you so much!.
