There are only two restrictions the straps and the buckles. The straps at the back, especially the last, should be longer. The one that's worse is the one you just mentioned. Do not think that there is a shortage of materials. Therefore, make the straps longer. Because not all of us have tiny feet, and, if you put on a boot, then the product is rendered useless because it will no longer.

We had to do something about our lawn

A full blown aerator wasn't available, so these shoes appeared to be a good alternative. The shoes are sturdy and well built. In the middle of mowing the lawn, my husband put them on. Having trouble with the straps was an issue. This made it easier for us to put the socks on before putting the shoes.
