Questions & Answers
The kit includes four screws, but they are not concrete screws. You'd have to supply your own. It can, however, be MOUNTED to concrete if necessary.
We were unable to do so as well. We only did two of them.
I've had three children, as well as myself and another child, sit in my car without issue. We didn't weigh more than 500 pounds, but we were definitely over 200.
The guy who installed it said it was slightly wider than the beam and that we'd have to buy another piece to mount to it, but then it turned out that because I was installing in the far corner of the house, the beam was actually lying down and ended up being wide enough.

I used this little gem to hang a hammock chair that my daughter found at a garage sale over the weekend. It's simple to erect and it works. I chose this anchor over others because of the following reasons: the spring is very strong, and the rest of the hardware is well built.
1. It comes with four mounting holes for added security.
2. The plate is shaped like a diamond, allowing all four screws to fit into the rafter perfectly.
3. The spring has been particularly active. A hammock chair with a spring is recommended by most places. Damage can occur if you don't have a spring.
4. It came with a clip that allows it to rotate 360 degrees. br>br>It only took a few minutes to put it together. Simply use your stud finder to locate the studs, drill pilot holes, and install the screws, and you're done! I'm going to go out and get another one so I can hang another chair.
It really works. We installed this near a room's corner and were fortunate that the ceiling beam directly overhead in the attic had been laid sideways to fit into the tight corner; otherwise, we would have had to use a mounting plate between beams because the plate that comes with this kit is just a smidgeon wider than the 2" x 4" beams in the ceiling. I also like that the spring has an open end, so if I need to move the chair, I can simply pick it up and slide it off. I did purchase a stainless hoop so that I could tie the rope to something larger.
The screw in the predrilled hole broke. I put it up on my pergola and predrilled the hole before screwing in the "stainless steel" screws. As I was putting it in, one of the screws broke. Because the holes are predrilled, that amount of pressure wasn't enough. I'm not confident in the other screws' ability to support "500 pounds. " There are photos of where the screw broke attached. When I informed the company of the possible quality problem, they offered to send me a replacement screw. Change the brand you're using.
For about a year, everything looked and worked fine, but then the main hinge broke away from the plate, and my daughter fell to the cement, injuring her back.
The spring tension is good, and the parts easily support over 200 lbs and show no signs of corrosion, as is the case with most similar hardware I've purchased in the past. The screws are a real pain to work with. They can support the weight, but the drive on the head is easily worn out. This appears to be a common problem with these products, as the title suggests. You'll be fine if you bring your own screws.
I purchased this item to use as a ceiling hanger for a hammock chair. The anchors that came with it had concrete screws in them, which I'm not sure where anyone could use them. The mounting plate was too wide for ceiling studs, and there were only two parts I could use; however, the kit's price was not worth keeping when I could buy all the parts I needed for less than the kit's price. This kit for hanging was suggested by the chairs I bought. Please note that this kit is not intended for use with hanging hammock chairs.
Buyer beware: not all bolts are 100% according to specs . meaning. The bolt heads aren't all the same size. The majority of them, as shown in the photo, fit my 1/2 inch nut driver, but eight of them were incorrect. I had to dash to the store and get eight replacements. It was a pain in the neck because I had to drop everything and go to the store. It is reasonable to expect to receive what we have paid for. period, rather than having to spend more money, time, and gas trying to fix someone else's lack of quality assurance. Everything else appears to be in good working order.
The mounting bracket is well-made, but the screws that come with it are a waste of money. It's not even a tough metal. During the installation, one of them was easily removed. The spring appears to be of good quality, but the swivel latch hook that comes with it is also of poor quality; it swivels fine until you put some weight on it, at which point it stops turning properly. This is a set that I would not recommend.
