Questions & Answers
Concerning the term "riplock," I'm not sure what you're asking. We've had our gazebo for over seven years, and the top has had to be replaced three times due to excessive sun exposure. We've had the top on all year, and it's finally ripped off in strong winds. We removed the top at the end of the season and replaced it in the spring (after 7 months of use), and it ripped due to sun exposure. We adore our gazebo, but we wish the top could last a little longer. It might work in a climate where there isn't a lot of direct sunlight. We live in the South and our gazebo is in the Heat of the Day 90 of the Day .
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about, but Lowes only has ONE (1) replacement canopy for $78 and it's not this one; it's for a 10 x 10. Lowes was unable to provide me with any information. Given that it's for a $500 gazebo, this is a great canopy at a reasonable price.
Thank you, Stitch, for including the large canopy and the air vent (small canopy). Customer service at its finest.br>

due to shoddy workmanship One star is appropriate. However, if you read the Fix, you will be able to see what I'm talking about. You'll enjoy yourself. br>THE BENEFIT: THE CONTRARY: THE FIT AND COLOR ARE PERFECT. br>THE CONTRARY: THE FIT AND COLOR ARE PERFECT It isn't UV-protected at all! In just four months of use, the color faded dramatically, and I live in Northern Ohio! It was also exposed to very little direct sunlight! br>Another flaw is the stitching, which has pin holes at every connection. THE SOLUTION! br>
1: I'm going to have to get a UV-protection device. fabric with a water-repellent coating As a result, the material will not break down and will remain extremely resistant to water.
2: Buy HH- VINYL CEMENT IN THE NUMBER OF SIXTY-SIX! Also, glue under each stitched attachmment point pocket with old canopy material (or a similar material). Essentially, the material is doubled up, with the stitches covered and overlapping, making it nearly bulletproof.
This is a gazebo that you should not purchase. The gazebo was designed and manufactured in China. Lowe's sells it because the canopy top can be replaced for a lot of money. This gazebo was purchased five years ago. Every fall, I removed the top to keep it safe. The original top began to rip and tear after only four years. Last year, I bought an Allen and Roth replacement on Amazon. It's already rife with rips and holes. My next-door neighbor purchased his from Lowe's at the same time as I did, and it shredded up within the first year. The fabric is thinner than khaki beige pants worn by men. The top is so tight in all of the corners that it expands the threaded holes. I'm 69 years old, and I remember when well-made items lasted for years. Last year, it cost me $99 plus tax, and Lowe's will never be able to persuade me to purchase another product like it. I told one store manager that I've been spreading the word on social media and to everyone I meet in the store who looks at the display, including friends and relatives. This is a poor product, and as a retired electronic design engineer, I would go to the manufacturer and instruct those young engineers on how to make a good product.
This is a disaster in comparison to the one we bought two years ago at Lowe's for $20 less. There are tiny pinpoint holes all over the place, the frame isn't as tight, and the material isn't as heavy duty. There are also more pinpoint holes along the stitching. Nothing even close to the one Lowes used to sell in terms of quality. If this continues into the summer, I'll be surprised. We thought we'd give it a chance because some reviews were positive, but we made the wrong decision, and we're so disappointed.
That was the lifespan of the gazebo's original top. br>Our gazebo is almost entirely exposed to the Georgia sun. That is most likely why it dries out so quickly. br>My 60-year-old wife was able to remove the old ripped top and replace it with this one on her own. On a calm day, it's simple. br>Once she had the center around the top frame part of the air vent, all she had to do was adjust it to the ends and pull the hold tabs over the frame ends. Her only gripe is that they don't indicate which side is the 10' and which is the 12'! She couldn't find any markings if there were any. br>Of course, she had to turn it around (which was a little annoying). br>The last corner was a little more difficult to pull on, but the canvas is tough, and with a little more pulling, it went on much easier than she had anticipated. br>The air vent cover was made of a more durable material. I can't seem to get into a good enough position to pull that last corner. But she just tugged and tugged until the fabric loosened a little more and she was able to put it on. Yes, she stated that her arms were exhausted and achy afterward. br>br>Sure enough, hurricane Irma strikes just a week or two after I put the cover on! They wanted 50-100 people to come. Winds gusting to 70 miles per hour in Georgia. We knew there was no way a huge canopy and steel frame wouldn't be destroyed just by having the side curtains tied open, or by the winds getting under it and lifting the entire gazebo frame, which would almost certainly destroy the entire gazebo frame. That top had just been replaced by her! br>So she climbed back up the ladder. The bottom edges of the cover were easily popped off, and the cover was easily lifted over the upper air vent. (I forgot to remove the air vent cover)br>It took me about 10 minutes to remove the cover. We had the cover back up and secured in about 20 minutes the next day, after Irma had passed and the winds had died down to a breeze. br>The corners were much easier to slip into the pockets because the fabric had already been loosened a little. br>br>Anyone who lives in an area where the canopy top cannot be left on all year is able to easily remove it and replace it when they are ready. br>br>She despises the flimsy screening that surrounds the vent cover, in addition to the lack of markings indicating which side is 10' and which is 12'. br>When we first put the gazebo up, she ripped the original screen because she didn't realize how thin it was. Because they don't provide any extra length on that upper screen part, carefully attaching the velcro from the top air vent to the top cover part takes a long time and is very frustrating. Even if they kept the screen part so thin and flimsy, they could add 1/2" of screen to make this part easier. br>br>As a result, I had to deduct one star for the two flaws in the cover.
