This bag is quite large, and for the price, it is well worth it; I've included a photo for reference. My bag is the length of my leg, and I'm 5'10" tall. Miracle Gro is my personal favorite for indoor and outdoor plants. Fungus gnats are present, but they aren't a problem for my outside plants and aren't a deal breaker for my indoor plants. br>br>I'll do one of two things with it if I need to use it for indoor plants: 1. br>br> When I get a new bag of plants, I usually try to avoid immediately putting soil in them. Fungus gnat larvae are a common name for this species. My plants were completely destroyed. I double-checked the contents of the bag to make sure they were still there, and they were. Please do not waste your time! During this coronavirus outbreak, I reasoned that ordering from Amazon would be safer and more convenient. Instead, I received soil that had been infested.
It should be simple enough. Except there are gnats in the planting mix. I should have known better because I had a similar experience with the same soil a few years ago, and now my house is infested with hundreds of pesky little flying bugs. After a few weeks, the little critters died out. THIS IS A PRODUCT THAT I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Every time I mowed, you couldn't help but smell it. My local soil, on the other hand, is mostly fine gravel, sand, and other fine particulates, which makes it unsuitable for potting. Those of you who have complained that this mix is mostly peat moss and wood chips should know that they put that stuff in potting mix because it retains moisture and does not compact. It's only natural that when a plant is trapped in a clay or plastic container, earthworms can't agitate the soil and it's not well protected from evaporation. Gnat eggs abound in the soil, hatching and flying all over the place. I had to discard the bag, so I went out and bought two new ones.
I really enjoy the soil. However, I'm not sure if the small bugs that have suddenly started flying around are coming from the soil. They shouldn't, because the soil was baked in the oven before being placed in the pots. Despite this, when I place those sticky strips around the pot, they attract millions of bugs. They never seem to go away, no matter how many of them get caught in the traps. I need to get some more soil, but I'm hesitant to do so.
