Questions & Answers

If I only use the auto drain valve on one of my zones will I still be able to winterize the irrigation system (air pressure)?

You can blow out the zone with the drain valves, but don't blow out the zone with the drain valves in it, as You should close that zone as you blow goal of these valves is preventing you from having to blow out the lines. It drains on its own.

Is there any information about the flow rate and pressure at which the valve opens?

It has a very low flow rate, and when it opens, it opens at almost zero pressure to serve

Does the rubber insert inside the valve go in one direction or the other?

The end of the sprinkler system distribution header should be screwed into this. enables a self-draining header when the system is shut down. A one-way valve controls the flow of air only. Allow space for the water to drain at the end. Don't block it off with dirt

In the event that I use the auto drain valve only on one of my irrigation zones, will I still be able to winterize the system (air pressure)?

I use one or two in each zone, and none of my lines have frozen, regardless of the fact that I shut off the supply at the antifreeze unit when it is hard freeze time. It involves syphoning water.

The situation is not so good
3/5

Installation was as instructed, however sprinkler lines froze anyway because sprinkler lines did not drain, resulting in wasted time and dollars spent on repairs. I've even tried installing another with a french drain under or around I still cannot get the program to.

It would be a good idea to put pea gravel around the area
5/5

These are used in a winterizing system of a landscape sprinkler system in North Carolina. I have not experienced any problems in all the years since I have used them since the Rainbird sprinkler heads allow leakage in our region, but these allow drainage once We highly recommend you place some pea gravel around the small shoe box so that it can drain easily.

ALWAYS BE CAUTIOUS
3/5

Because this thing did not drain, I had to change the PVC pipe today because it had froze and burst when we had cold weather last winter.

This version works well for a lower cost than Rainbird.

It's time to say goodbye to the geyser
5/5

The underground sprinklers in my yard erupted into a geyser whenever they were turned on. Last spring, I discovered (to great alarm) that this was happening every time they were turned on. Upon digging out the odd spot I found an unusual "knob" in my line, so I removed it and found a piece of old and rusted pipe underneath. The thing that is broken- The bearded man. The serial numbers on it lead me to believe it was an automatic drain valve, which I found out by looking up the serial numbers. When I read up on a do it yourself website, I searched Amazon and found this inexpensive replacement part. It arrived 2 days later, I screwed it in place, and my problem was fixed. It's that easy!.

I give it five stars
5/5

Using this water system, you will automatically receive water I am very happy with how the drain valve works. I bought two of these for spares because they were so reasonably priced.

The DIY system was based on a hose faucet that I already had
5/5

I believe a device like this would be nice to save me the trouble of having to do a blowout prior to winter. It removes the water from the line so that it cannot freeze up, it is well worth the $6 investment.
