Questions & Answers

The unit has only been installed for two days, I was wondering if the Power Indication Light should be on simultaneously with the signal light while idle or no rain? Is that okay?

Lights should be on in both directions. You can see them by looking at them, as they indicate that you are connected to the system and that you are Thank you for your help.

Are the receiver and controller required to be placed next to each other (mine is in the basement) or can it be in ?

You do not need it to be visible to you. The distance at which it would be able to receive the signal is in my memory, but it shouldn't be an issue.

Will the wireless transmitter from the new set work with the existing base unit on my system after the wireless transmitter from the old set got crushed by gutter guys?

As long as one of the parts is of the same brand, it should work. You will have to sync the new part with the old part. Check out the manufacturer's website and find out how to replace the sending unit for the rain switch. It would be good if they had instructions. You are basically holding the sending unit in front of the base unit while standing next to it. When the lights or other indicators flash, press and hold the test button on top of the sending unit for a few seconds. Press the test button one more time and you should be ready.

Do you have an old system with a small lead cell as the power source? Is it possible to replace the ?

You don't seem to be clear about what you are asking. Power is provided by two cr2032 coin batteries which would be outside the sending unit. A control panel on the irrigation system powers the receiving unit. The manufacturer will supply you with the new power source if you need one or you will have to replace the entire irrigation control panel if you need one.

Selected User Reviews For Irritrol RS1000 Wireless Rain Sensor

Is it necessary to run sprinklers in the rain if you aren't a duck? Using the Irritrol RS1000, I was able to install the outside irrigation controller in minutes
5/5

There is nothing unusual or unusual about the wiring of the receiver Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) switches are provided through 2 wires for 24 VAC power, and 3 wires for 24 VAC power. There is no wire between the transmitter and the receiver. It just takes a few adjustments for rainfall and evaporation to get it set up. In the days following its installation, my sprinklers did not work since it rained the next day. I highly recommend this book. This sensor/transmitter contains a number of small, water-soluble components that are designed to sense tiny changes in water value A cylinder at the top of the unit is stacked vertically with absorbent rings stacked up inside of it (they look like thick washers). These rings expand and physically push against the switch when they get wet Whenever they are wet, they expand when dry, they retract. The rain setting (1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 3/4") works by simply adjusting how much space there is between the petals before they expand. When 3/4" is selected, for example, this leaves a lot of space for expansion and so you would need more rain before the switch would turn on (presumably 3/4" of rain). Throughout the day, wireless transmissions of switch position are sent to the receiver. If dirt or bugs get caught in the rings, it can be cleaned, etc. or they can be removed for cleaning. There is a twist ring that opens and closes a small hole in the bottom of the disk In order to prevent the rings from drying out, this is done to control evaporation. Your sprinkler controller will be on longer if the ring is completely closed, thus preventing it from drying out as quickly. It may be that you fine tune this as required depending on the type of soil that you have (clay soil holds water longer, sand soil holds water example, if your soil seems to be drying out quite quickly you should open up this hole so you can enable the irrigation controller (and the irrigation schedule) to prevent it from running out of water. There is a rather short cord on the Receiver (around 14") so you will have to mount it near This product could use an additional foot of cable (I wish it did). There are 5 wires on the cable Connect the two lines from the switch to the 24 VAC power lines One is the common to the switch ("Break Valve Common"), and the other is the NO and NC (note you can only use one of them at a time). Nevertheless, they are all a little different in how they refer to the receiver(/sensor) hook-up So make sure to check your manual, but 95% of them 1) use the Normally Closed switch, and 2) provide two connections named "Sensor" or something along those lines. It is normal for most people to connect two power lines with the power outlet (24 VAC, not 120VAC! a jumper or wire connecting the two sensor connections, Your valves are the control valves, so the path from them determines the circuit to the It should be noted that the controller is unaware that a sensor has been attached. Although it is still attempting to run the irrigation program, it cannot do so because the power to the valves is out. (You are essentially connecting a NC switch to the valve common The receiver also has an indicator light that shows whether Rain is being detected, the strength of the signal, and the amount of You can use the "Smart Bypass" button to run your sprinkler system even if it is raining. bypass the "Signal" light goes out and it appears to have lost its link to the transmitter The system will automatically reset after it is turned off within an hour or so.

Overall, it is an excellent product. Here are some things that could be improved to connect the transmitter and the receiver (at least 24") and 2) a bracket to mount the transmitter that is slightly more flexible to allow it to rotate or attached to a thicker post (like a fence, for example).

Great sensor to replace your old one
5/5

A rain sensor like this will be perfect for me. This is the second one to fail since the original was installed by the irrigation company. I found the installation instructions thorough and easy to follow. It was well packaged. I definitely got a good deal on this There are quite a few Irritrol products on the market today.

A simple installation process is involved
5/5

While I have everything from Hunter, I have been reading reviews about problems I am experiencing with the Rain is no longer sensed by mine, but it still communicates. In 2015, it was made, and in 2016, it was installed. The seal in the system needs to be replaced because the whole system is sealed. There are replaceable batteries in the Irritrol that last for five years and innards that can be easily It uses tried and true technology and costs less than a Hunter every few years, rather than throwing out an $80 tv every few years. About 15 minutes were needed to install the software.

The Irritrol RS1000 is very easy to install in a Hunter system, making it a very good choice
5/5

A rain gutter sensor does not require drilling or special tools and can easily be attached to it. The first rain in a week happened in the week since I wrote this review. As I look at the Irritrol RS1000, it shows that it shuts down the system when at least 1/4 inch of rain falls. This is one of the best products I have tried.

This is a company you should not deal with
3/5

In the beginning of the rainy season, I plugged it in and it caused a lot of damage to my There were two sets of experts who inspected the rain sensor and determined that it was defective (a new one was plugged in It is not the first request I have made to the GR8Sales company, but neither request has been answered. This is awful. A new dead product now has to be dealt with.

I really like the rain sensor
5/5

As a replacement for my original Irritrol RS 1000, I bought this rain sensor. It was unfortunately destroyed by the gutter guys while they were working on some projects. In the end, Route 70 Supply shipped the replacement quickly, so I was able to get my irrigation system up and running again. That guy whose irrigation is running when it is pouring rain is the last guy you want to see! It would be a pleasure to work with them again in the future.

The Rain Sensor is great for a sprinkler system on your home
5/5

This is the replacement rain sensor for my old Irritrol In accordance with the instructions, the new Irritrol RS1000 rain sensor was easy to operate and install. Few days later, there was heavy rain, and the rain sensor shut down the sprinkler system as it was designed to do.

Installation is easy, and the software functions well
5/5

It was easy to install and I had it installed and working within 15 minutes. We were able to connect without a hitch to a Toro system. So far, I have only had the water sensor installed for one summer, so only time will tell if the sensor is more durable than others.
