Questions & Answers

What are the results of a few northern US winters on these installations?

Every year in Boston, I use these and always forget to bring the timers inside for the winter. Every time I've left the timers out over the last six years, they've been broken by spring. However, the one time I remembered to bring one inside, everything was fine. The tubing and drippers have performed admirably throughout the winter, far outperforming other tubing I've used that has burst. After six winters, the majority of my original tubing is still going strong.

When using this system, is it safe to leave the outdoor faucet running all the time?

There should be no problem as long as your faucet isn't dripping and the temperature is above freezing. Things should be tightly screwed together. When it's hot out, I keep my faucet on all the time with a twice-daily watering schedule for my hanging baskets.

Hello, I'm just curious if this comes with a black flow preventer. ?

Backflow manifolds/preventers are only required if you're using a high-pressure or hard-pipe irrigation system to tap into the main supply line. All dripline and micro irrigation systems require is a pressure regulator with a maximum pressure of 25 PSI, which will be installed after your timer if one is used. If you want to control the irrigation flow manually, place it after a gate valve.

What's the purpose of the black tube that's only a few inches long?

The small black tube will be clamped off with the help of the short black tube. To stop the flow of water, fold the small black tube in half and insert it into the larger tube.

It was simple to put together and worked well for about 6 hours
3/5

It was simple to assemble and functioned well for about six months before leaking. Despite my best efforts, the company has yet to respond to my request for a warranty refund or replacement. As a result, I'd advise you to look into another firm. It's one thing to have a defective product; every business has them. It's one thing to dismiss a customer who has pointed out a flaw in your product.

It was great for a while
3/5

For a little over six months, it worked perfectly. It now drips continuously, regardless of how long I set the timer. I contacted the seller, and if they respond, I will update my review. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I sent an email to the manufacturer, and they promptly responded. They promised to send a replacement after receiving photos for proof. However, it has been more than two months since it was supposed to arrive. They've stopped responding to my emails as well.

Never again will you have to be concerned about running out of water! This item is truly effective! I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this product, and I used 19 of the drippers (some containers had one, two, or three drippers per container)
5/5

It took a little longer to set up than the directions indicated (no big deal), but it was incredibly simple! (Tip : To soften the tubing, place it in the sun. Also, if you arrange your containers ahead of time, it will be MUCH easier to assemble with fewer errors; DO NOT start cutting tubing at random until you have a plan. The timer is excellent (another suggestion: The manual watering and rain delay capabilities are fantastic (I read that it might not hold up well in rainy weather, so I cut a ziploc baggy to fit around it and clipped it shut) and the manual watering and rain delay capabilities are fantastic (I read that it might not hold up well in rainy weather, so I cut a ziploc baggy to fit around it and clipped it shut). I have no idea if my water source has a high or low psi, so I bought the Raindrip psi regulator (all my drippers drip and drip consistently with it attached to the timer), so you might want to consider that purchase as well (it leaks a little, but the package clearly states it may or may not leak LOL). I am by no means an expert, but I read enough sh*t about drip irrigation for containers that I will definitely recommend it and if it fails for some ) P. I included two photos of my visuals setup.

Once I realized it required a regulator, it was fantastic
4/5

Once I realized I needed a pressure regulator, this watering system was fantastic. With some of their other systems, Raindrip mentions the need for a pressure regulator; however, this one does not. br>br>I was having issues with the drip emitters not releasing nearly enough water and the "T" connectors leaking. I assumed the emitters were faulty or clogged, so I tried replacing them with no success. Finally, after about a week of very little water reaching my plants, one of the emitters came loose from its tube while the system was running. All of the other emitters began to drip away at the same time! The emitters couldn't work properly because the pressure was too high. Yes, you read correctly. Surprisingly, too *high* a water pressure results in too *low* a flow from the drippers. br>br>I dashed over to the hardware store and purchased a 25 psi water pressure regulator, which I installed on the timer's outlet side. All of my dripper emitters are now working perfectly. The timer is excellent. br>br> That is not a complaint. br>br>So, one star deducted for failing to mention the need for a water pressure regulator.

Expect it to be useful for only a few months
3/5

Installing it is simple enough, except for trying to make a watertight connection at the fittings. Using only one's hands is extremely difficult. I didn't want to use pliers because it was all plastic. From August to November 2016, I used it to water 5 potted plants and it worked fine. Put the timer and tubing away for the winter, then bring them out again in March 2017 after the rains have passed. At first, it worked, but there were leaks in two of the junctions where the tubing entered the pots. Despite the tightness of the fittings, the leakage continued. br>The Major Issue: Even after replacing the batteries (which were still good) and following the directions to the letter, the timer control stopped working. I tried everything, but it didn't work. The system will only work if the timer is manually set, which, of course, negates the timer's utility. As a result, the timer worked for about 5 months in total. Installing drip irrigation did not yield a good return on investment in terms of both money and labor. I've returned to manually watering my indoor plants. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I attempted to contact Raindrip but was unsuccessful. After a 36-minute recorded message that basically said, "Call someone who cares," I hung up. "Raring has been reduced to one star.

I followed the instructions to install the kit, but once I was done, I discovered that the timer was defective - It was impossible to stop the flow of water
3/5

br>I called Raindrip's customer service and they confirmed that the timer is defective after some troubleshooting. br>br>The technician mentioned that they are having a lot of quality issues with products sold on Amazon and suggested that I buy a new unit at Lowe's or Home Depot, which I thought was amusing. Why should Amazon's quality differ from that of Lowes or Home Depot? Why don't they just do a better job of quality assurance? br>br>I'll have to remove and return the hose. There was a significant amount of time that was squandered.

All of the plants were flourishing and looking their best
5/5

This also relieves me of the responsibility of watering them. Before we left for our two-week vacation at our cabin, I installed the Raindrip system. I decided to try this system rather than relying on friends or family to water our deck's hanging and potted plants. It performs admirably. Every morning, I set the timer for 30 minutes. To my relief, all of the plants were thriving and beautiful when we returned from our cabin. This also relieves me of the responsibility of watering them on a daily basis. I also purchased a water pressure regulator that keeps the pressure at 25 psi, as recommended in a YouTube video. This, too, proved to be extremely beneficial. For the record, I am a real Raindrip customer, and this is not a Raindrip advertisement. Unlike so many other things in the world, this product delivers exactly what it promises. I am ecstatic.
