Bring a pot of water to a boil, then dip the tubing's tip in it (be careful!). ) for a few seconds to soften it up before inserting it into the adapter.
Hi there! Janice from Orbit here! The adapter is designed to keep the tubing in place. To get rid of it, you'd have to use a lot of force.
A quarter tube is inserted.
This drip adapter accepts 1/4-inch tubing. To achieve the watertight seal required for a good seal, you'll need to work the tubing into the adapter, which should be a tight fit. For the past 30 years, I've been attaching a standard water bib with this type of adapter.

This is a fantastic solution. TIP: After you've pushed the tubing all the way through. Push a pin through the adapter's tubing on the inside. The pin should then be cut so that it just protrudes past the tubing. Even high pressure will not be able to force your tubing out of this if you do it this way. They don't leak, so don't worry about that.
Unlike some of the other reviewers, I had no trouble feeding the tube through the tight compression orifice; the issue was elsewhere: The quality of the internal rubber gasket pair is appalling. When they're installed, they deform and become unseated, causing water to leak from the back of the fitting (which screws onto the faucet) whenever the irrigation timer goes off. It will eventually develop that leak shortly after installation, but if you have to unscrew it from the faucet to make some changes to your irrigation setup or for any other reason, the failure will be greatly accelerated, and the fitting will become instantly useless. br>I highly recommend buying a standard 1/4" tubing adapter with barbed fitting, which is far simpler and far superior.
It was difficult to get the drip line set up, but once I did, it appears to be working properly. I gave it four stars because of the difficulty (I'm not an engineer, so I'm not sure what could be done to improve it) and because I'm not sure how long it will last.
It's a little difficult to get 1/4" water line into them, but once you do, they work great and last a long time.
It would not fit even if the tubing was shaved.
These are absolutely breathtaking! Well, with the coin, it's simple to set up and doesn't leak. They're fantastic.
Ordered barb type fittings don't work very well.
It was an excellent solution. The fit is very good.
