Questions & Answers

Due to the fact that they are all pre-made, are they all equal lengths Do you have a method for doing this?

They are on the sharpener for as long on the assembly line as they are on the assembly line. This was on an episode of "How It's Made".

Who makes them? Where did they come from?

Pencils are manufactured in the Philippines

What is the latex content of the erasers?

Latex-free is what they say in the description There's no charge. Despite the fact that we are allergic to latex and have a teacher who cannot be around latex if it is in the air (for example, when using latex erasers or blowing balloons) she has not had problems with these in her class so the description is accurate.

You don't have to be a pencil snob to use a decent pencil
4/5

Despite being a pencil snob myself, this is a great price for just getting decent pencils. For my children's classrooms, I purchased these materials. The students are likely to gobble them up quickly, bite off the end in the first class period, and not even notice any There is a bit of wobbling on the erasers compared to my favorite brand of It is possible that young students will break the eraser if they vigorously erase. Electric sharpeners also do not sharpen quite as well as manual ones. Here I've shown the Amazon pencil on the right that has more of a rough cut wood finish. Left-handed people should use the Ticonderoga because it sharpens more easily. For the final step, I had to press the pencil slightly harder than I had to in order to achieve the same level of precision. Amazon's pencils, however, are far superior to those in most other stores and superior to those at dollar stores, too.

For me to be a successful teacher, my pencils need to last
3/5

teacher, I need pencils to last a long time, so the first pencil I sharpened was less than half as sharp as it should have been. I've only cut it in half since the last time I checked, and it's still not sharp.

That's where the pencils come in handy
3/5

Here is what I got pre-ordered Due to a 50% drop-off rate in pencils and the excruciating waste of time spent waiting for everyone to sharpen new pencils, I provide sharpened pencils as a convenience to my students. It's great to use the pencils They do that annoying thing when they get dull, so when I try to sharpen them (using a hand-crank sharpener, as my electric one broke earlier this year) the lead breaks or falls out, causing the wooden part to grind at an angle. The frustration is unbearable.

This is a good price for a basic pencil that is of good quality
5/5

In order to refill my depleted stock of pencils at the end of the school year, I buy a pack of them every year. am a 7th and 8th grade English teacher) The last time I bought golf pencils, I paid about $8 for 144. A lot of the time I have kids who ALWAYS forget a pencil, so I got a great deal on it. It isn't necessarily the ones who are going to need a pencil, because more often than not, they would lose it again before they made any mistakes. Yet I ran out of the books by late April, with two months left in the school year, even though I had 144 of them. It made sense to buy another pack of golf pencils for the students who were perpetually borrowing a pencil, but I quickly discovered that I sometimes had a student who needed a pencil, but was not someone who always missed class because they didn't bring their own. Students who were in need of it were those who could wait a few days before using it, but had to start using it sooner rather than later. The "real" pencils I had were all broken, and I saw these AmazonBasic pencils on sale (96 for about $6 - usually under $8), and knew I had to get them As far as my own personal pencils are concerned, I am extremely picky. There's a particular brand I like to use, and a particular brand of erasers I enjoy using. The good news is that I was really excited to try out these pencils since although they weren't as expensive as a Dixon Even at Ticonderoga, they were still really effective. Quality

It's nothing special, just your ordinary, everyday pencils, but that's how I like it. I hate pencils with that thin plastic covering and a design on it. "Cute" pencils, on the other hand, are not intended for use by children, but instead are for adult children to obtain the logo (like those on You have to sharpen those ones for the first time, because the film splits and then the cute design peels Neither the AmazonBasics nor the standard pencils needed to be sharpened, and they wrote nicely. In some cases, pencils may have a split in the graphite segment, causing unusual pressure on the paper, resulting in "double" While writing for a bit with the pencil, it still wrote nicely even as it was dulling. The letter I wrote to test it can be seen here There is an image of it on the third page. The eraser is A cheap pencil's garbage eraser is another thing I hate about it. While I write most things in pen as a teacher, I always write it in pencil when I keep my grade book. As a teacher, I have to erase the previous grade of the file if a student turns something in late, and I certainly don't want to end up with marks left over from a sloppy As mentioned previously, I have one specific brand of erasers that I think are God's gift to mankind, so I always slap one of those bad boys on my pencils, but I didn't think that this eraser was too bad. While it was still obvious that I had made a mistake, I also pressed in to the paper, as if I were trying to make a hole in the table. It is DARK that I write. There are many of my students who don't press hard. A lighter color would also be a better choice if I were drawing. There are two instances of erasure on the third picture attached to this review. First, in line four of the first paragraph there is a typo over "film. " In the second paragraph, I describe an eraser test. As I mentioned previously, I write very dark to the point where it is difficult to erase to the point where there is no evidence of a mistake, but I also think the average reader wouldn't object to it. It is easy to read over the erased bits, and no annoying parts of the eraser are left behind (unlike a giant pink smudge, one of my least favorite things). A SMUDGE TEST IS REQUIRED Smudges don't bother me as frequently because I'm right handed so I don't do much of that. Some of my left handed students, however, turn in work that is barely legible because they drag their hands constantly throughout their writing. Based on what I think, I decided to test out how badly the graphite smudged on a hand. The results are in the fourth photo. The way I managed the paper wasn't just me carefully tracing my fingertips over it Pressing hard, I tried to find a way to make them smudge. The graphite on my hand is a bit smudged, and I did smudge it a bit, but compared to some of the other pencils, this isn't that bad at all. In spite of my putting my hand on the paper, it was minimal, considering I was literally pressing hard to get the graphite on my hand. There is no way around the fact that a 12 pack of any type of pencil can cost There are times when the "cute" pencils are the most expensive, but they are the poorest This might not be the most exciting deal for people who care about looks, but don't care about price. There can be 96 Ticonderoga pencils in a 96-pack for between $14 and $15 It costs $20 (depending on the packaging and color, and the store you buy it at). For me, Ticonderogas are always the standard for the perfect pencil, as these have been my favorites since I was a child. Originally from Ticonderoga, NY, my mother came from a long line of Ticonderoga women. Considering their price points, the AmazonBasics are the most economical. What do you think about them? What more fun can your kid have than the cool Star Wars or Frozen logos? Not at all. Since it's an everyday pencil, it's BASICS. Yellow is just the color they are. Although, I must admit that those "cool looking" pencils never hold up to something as good as These pencils are so great because of their simplicity There's nothing special about them. Each of them has a clear understanding of their function and does it well. The "good" pencils I will use every now and then will be these, especially to reward kids who treat their supplies with care.

My disappointment is great! It was so exciting to buy these for my classroom, but I will never buy them These sharpeners will not fit in the wall-mounted hand-cranked sharpener like what is normally used by students
3/5

They just get chewed up by it. The sharpener I use is heavy duty, but I still have issues. For example, you can often get sharp wood, but no lead, since the electric power is off. In the center. Although I wanted to make my life easier, these did not make a difference!.

It is better to stick with what you know works These pencils have been tried and true for decades
3/5

I don't think these are There are constant breaks in the lead. Whenever I provide a lead to an individual student, I always make sure that I have checked it- There would be no way to fix it. If I sharpen again, I will. Here is another lead that has been broken. The final time I tested it, I managed to get the lead to not break however, the student would come back a few minutes later with a It has now become apparent to me that 150 pencils are not going to be used in I hate it when that happens!.

There are a lot of terrible things here
3/5

There's something seriously wrong with these. These just arrived in the mail and I'm sharpening them so that I can add them to the list of school supply items for my kids. Never thought I'd write a pencil review, but these are so bad that I had to sit down and write one. I have included a picture of the Amazon pencils (first pic, the badly sharpened ones) and a picture of cheap grocery store pencils (the great looking ones) I'm sharpening with the same electric sharpener at the same time. The difference is obvious. As a result of feeling bad about even giving this to my kids' teachers, I am returning it.

This pencil is far from the best of the best
3/5

It is hard to sharpen, it breaks easily, and it may take a long time to sharpen it. There are many problems with the quality! There is no need to pay so much for such a low quality pencil. These are definitely not something I would recommend to anyone. Buying this product is a complete waste of money. If you must buy, choose.
