By tipped the dispenser upside down (just as I would for paperclips), I was able to get the pins to stick to the lid. Those things don't come off. A colleague of mine displayed this behavior.
Due to the boxes in which my small paper clips were stored, they kept spilling. In the end, I placed them inside a caddy - It worked on the second try. It's fun to imagine the little clips just waiting in the opening for me to pick them up (a little anthropomorphism never hurts), and the days of I like this a lot. It would be nice if we could get one with a bigger range of It's a cute little device.
