Questions & Answers

So far I've purchased only sculpey for kids. I had to remove the sculpture from the oven because it fell apart. Do you know if this is a clay firm or if anyone has faced this problem with super before?

I said earlier that it is very important to support larger sculpts and limbs, such as arms, legs and tree branches. You can get some armature wire right here on Amazon) and/or outer support. You can also fill your project with poly fiberfill batting, like the kind you use in toys. Thus, it creates a comfortable bed for you to 'collapse into, as Ala Camille sings. It looks like someone is coughing. It has even been reported that some people put polyclay sculptures into boiling water (being sure to use a thermometer to keep the water at the manufacturers' recommended temperature - see note below). We usually find it to be around 265 pounds, depending on the item. )*br>Remember, although we call it clay, it's actually plastic, the same stuff that is used for patio furniture. This is important to keep in mind while you are curing your art. -)*br>I hope this helps a little bit if you have more questions, feel free to ask I've been doing this for years. And, of course, you can Google whatever you need to learn- Some excellent resources are available out there, and some great instructional books can also be found on Amazon! *br>The Wife of Roger

How should I paint and what should I use in the oven?

A good paint to use is acrylic. In the temp. The temperature has climbed to 275 degrees. For each 1/4" of material thickness, set the temperature to F and allow 15 minutes. To achieve the right temperature inside the oven, you should use a cooking thermometer. It has a great deal of importance.

What is the appropriate age for children to view this?

The polymer clay is fine, but if this is the first time they have used it, I would suggest Sculpey III instead. You can mold it easier and get it in smaller or cheaper packages, and there are more colors to choose from.

How can I use it as mosaic pieces if I cut specific shapes from it? Do you know of any small butterfly wing pieces (such as small pieces of wings?

Using a sharp blade is the best way to do it. When your shape is cut, put it in the oven at 130 degrees for 15 minutes. If you'd like, paint it afterwards

The only way to deal with it is My designs can be found on vinyl figures as well as in Super Sculpey sculptures
5/5

My figures can be drastically altered because of the adhesive, which sticks to the vinyl. Sculpey can be baked to harden at a rate of 1/4 inch in 20 minutes. Bake at 275°F for 15 minutes. The best way to bake a solid piece of Sculpey is not to bake it in the oven, for it will take hours and you risk unnaturally high heat breaking or cracking your sculpture. In order to make original figures, I build a sketch model created from wires and aluminum foil and adjust it until I get the desired result. You can add one or more 1/8" thick sheets of Sculpey in small sheets (that you can roll and wiggle with a knife) and mold out the shapes and add more 1/8" sheets for further detailing. Building an aluminum skeleton and adding sculpey to it is like adding flesh to a skeleton. Yummy! I put it in the convection oven for 20 minutes There is no such thing as a bad master. *Some folks might say that Super Sculpey is brittle and stale when they first get it and crumbles when it's held As for what you are saying, it's normal. Sculpey will last you a lifetime. Think of it as like Bazooka Joe bubble gum, which comes brittle, but becomes soft and malleable once you chew it. This applies here but you must be vigorous when beating it with a mallet in order to activate the chemicals and bring back the pieces together. You will also have to bake it to make it hard. Having given this 5 stars, I give it 5 In this example, Hard Sculpey has been bludgeoned to soft polymer clay after it has crumbled into crumbly pieces.

I made it with The stuff I am talking about is amazing
5/5

The versatility of this sculpting tool is almost endless. It cost me nothing to buy more sculpey, since I sculpted more of it myself. How much more Sculpey do you need? Don't be afraid to sculpt! Have you got new shoes to wear? Don't be afraid to sculpt! What's the problem? You can't find anyone? The name SCU- I see. Not a problem. This is the perfect material for sculpting and sculpting sculptures.

Fantastic sculpting compound
5/5

It is well worth the price of admission. My only complaint is that I absolutely hate regular Sculpey. It measures 12" in However, aside from the capability of baking your sculpt in your home, you also have the opportunity to turn your sculpture into a It's hardened in an oven of the highest grade, so Super Sculpey can't be compared to When you work the clay in your hands, you can make it softer. It has a medium density. It's a lot like carving a wax surface when using tools Clay holds anything that you add or subtract from the forms, impressions are easy to create without "dragging," sharp edges are easy to create, and overall it is very easy to control. A hybrid between wax and plasticine, it feels like a solid that can be molded. While some clay is firm enough to carve, if you need to blend new clay into a sculpt, a bit of it can be softened and used like epoxy to add the new part. This method allows a seamless blend, while the softer bit eventually becomes more firm. This is just a way I've found works for me, but it is not necessarily the best or the only way to go about it You'll find that clay is really a great and very intuitive material. In my opinion, one of the best things about this compound is that it always bonds No matter how many times you bake a piece, you can cover it with fresh clay, bake it again, and it will stay together completely. Having this in mind, I usually make sure to build specific underlying forms in my sculpture (like bones for example) then bake at a fraction of the baking time to harden just enough to hold the As a rule, I bake pieces like that in a preheated oven for about 5 minutes (maximum). This ensures that the clay has plenty of stability, and it can still be baked again once I'm finished with the whole sculpture. Anyway, I digress. For anyone regardless of their skill or experience level, this compound is an excellent choice. For a beginner, I would almost recommend this over any other option. It is closer to the clay you want to use to create quality detailed sculptures. Soft doughy stuff I've had in the past has not been nearly as delicious. In my opinion, that stuff feels more like a toy to play with, while with something like Super Sculpey you get a compound that can handle a lot of intricate detailing and still be pliable enough to shape forms easily. If you're a serious beginner (you haven't sculpted much or ever, but you plan to really dive in and give it a real shot) then this may be a good place to start. In addition to being super easy to work with, the clay can be reused if you don't bake it, and it doesn't harden if you leave it out. Later on, you can bake it to a solid state and paint your best creations. Not only is it not messy at all, but some people may prefer it. The Sculpey - The firm (grey) version is equally good, and you can mix both together.

The texture and detail of this product are exceptional, and it's resistant to fading
5/5

You can bake well with this stuff, so what's not to love? Sculpting is an awesome use for this. There's never been a time when I was worried about it being dried out. This is a super consistent product. Does a good job taking texture and detail, but in some way fingerprints are not a big There is a possibility that it is The chip tests I've done recently show that just knocking it against something could shatter it in thinner layers. remember to adjust the thickness depending on the level of durability your project requires.

I like that
4/5

I really like this! When I began the process, I never thought I would need to practice sculpting as much as I had used the $6 Original Sculpey from WalMart previously. Not at all! Clay of this sort is neither sticky nor crumbly, and it holds its shape better than a When you worked on something for hours, it left little trace of what you had done. The quality is great! We will be buying more soon!.

The product is perfect and fresh
5/5

Thank you so much! Here's a good ol' hammer girl. My second order was even under the code for 2018 on package 18 so it's the latest! Love how it's so fresh even on the 2nd order! These products are easy to work with and are soft. When I went to Michaels craft store to buy, they didn't have a big variety to choose from. The point is not that they There was very little shelf space and some of the clay had a date of a year old on it! I just thought I'd mention that. You can determine the date code from the package. A photo from this year rather than last year is more appropriate. Putting it simply, Amazon is thank you for supplying fresh clay. I shared a funny pic of how easy it was to work with it out of the box. A new order has been placed. It was a pleasure having it handed to me by the driver. His manners left a lasting impression on me. Don't just leave your keys at the front.
