Questions & Answers

Would these 11 blades be compatible with the Fiskars fingertip craft knife?

They fit perfectly in an Exacto knife, but I'm afraid I can't say whether or not they fit in anything else. However, there is a great deal.

Is it possible to purchase a scalpel to lance a cyst with these?

These aren't intended to be used as a medical device and aren't intended to be sold as such. They don't have a sterile aspect to them. If you have a cyst, you should see a doctor.

They arrive dripping with oil and with a blunt tip
3/5

I use X- I mostly use the tip of the blade on Acto knives to cut out leather pieces. Because the tips wear out quickly, I use a lot of blades. I assumed that all "X-" characters were capitalized. Blades from "Acto" were identical. Not so. This isn't an X-ray. They're Acto brand blades, and they're a rip-off. off. They arrived in two days, and I was eager to put them to use. The plastic bag and paper wrapper were drenched in oil, which was the first thing I noticed. It was drenched in oil, not just a light coat to keep it from rusting. After changing the blade, I needed to wash my hands. The next thing I noticed was that the blade on the first cut wasn't very sharp. When real X-rays were used, it took several passes to cut the leather. Acto blades are designed to cut on the first pass. In the future, I'll make certain that the blades I buy are genuine and not knock-offs. off. I would not advise anyone to do this.

Hidden Strengths in Low-Cost Blades The blades are of excellent quality
4/5

They're not as thick as branded x-ray films. The acto blades aren't perfectly aligned. However, the fit is close enough. Thinness, in my opinion, gives them a little more flexibility, which makes them better. Because of this, the tips do not snap as quickly as branded blades, and when they do, less metal is lost, allowing for easier curved cuts when cutting shapes in paper. Overall, the low cost has some unintended positive consequences. br>br>On the other hand, get rid of that hideous plastic case. Mine is so cheap and useless that it won't even latch. It's too big for the blades. Don't waste the horrifyingly destructive substance known as plastic on something that will be thrown away as soon as possible due to its poor construction. That is a heinous practice, and I implore you to stop it. Over that, I'd rather have them wrapped in oiled paper and stuffed into a ziplock bag. br>br>Aside from that, I'm happy. Because I'm trying to stretch a dollar further, I'm hoping this will break me of the hazardous habit of using dull blades.

There are a lot of blades, and the tips are very weak, so they bend way too easily
3/5

There are a lot of blades, and the tips are very weak, so they bend way too easily. I'm not sure why, but with a regular bade, I can get a lot of cuts in before needing to replace it. In order to finish this product in the same amount of time as I did with one E-Z, I had to use seven blades. A blade from the ACTO brand. I'm not dissatisfied, but I won't be buying them again.

The price is low, but the product is dull and brittle
3/5

Because there are so many of them, they may be suitable for general use. However, I only use these for the most delicate of tasks, such as architectural modeling. I bought these with the intention of using them to cut trace paper into silhouettes, but they were far too dull. When I was cutting at an angle, the blade dragged and tore the paper, and the tip bent very easily. I returned to the real x-ray machine. I switched to acto 11 blades and immediately noticed a difference, and the blade simply lasted a lot longer. If you don't use precision and razor-sharpness, you'll burn through these quickly. You are unconcerned about sharpness. Because they're split and drag on the material, I wouldn't use them on expensive museum board or basswood sheets. Perhaps chipboard and foamcore board. Quite dissatisfied, and yet another example of a deal that seemed too good to be true.

It's a good thing there are so many of them
3/5

I was ecstatic to see such a large package of X-rays as a broke MFA student. I've had these in my studio space for a couple of months now, and I've used about half of them on a variety of materials, including 35mm film, cardstock, foam, rubber, and felt. br>br>My initial impression is that these don't stay sharp as long as the X-Acto blades. Acto- brand blades that came with my 11 knife, but given the price, I don't mind. There isn't enough of a difference to justify spending twice as much. br>br>The bigger issue I've noticed with these is that the tips bend or break off entirely far too frequently. I'd say I've had to replace at least 30 of the approximately 70 blades I've used so far due to issues with the blade tip. Some blades seem to be able to withstand heavy pressure on a glass cutting surface without breaking, while others break while trimming copy paper on a self-healing machine. During the first or second use of the healing mat. br>br>Overall, I'd buy these again if the price stays low. But I've started stocking up on X-ray film. Acto z- At my desk, I keep a series of blades for projects where a blade breaking and ruining an original print isn't an option. These are capable of completing the task; Perhaps not on the first attempt.

I'm let down
3/5

I received this package of xacto knives in its original box. The case was taped together in an uneven manner and would not close evenly. Brown paper was used to wrap the xacto knives, which was then placed in a ziplock bag. When I took the xacto knives out of the ziplock bag, I noticed that the brown paper was very oily. The oil had gotten all over my hands and the xacto knives, and it smelled like it. Oil reeked of motor oil to me. I always thought it was strange that xacto knives had oil all over them. To use the xacto knives, I had to clean them all first. I would have returned the xacto knives if it hadn't been for the fact that I had a project due the next day and was waiting for these xacto knives. I was able to use xacto knives, but I was disappointed to discover that I had to wash each one due to the oil on them. Simply put, there were 139 xacto knives in total. The oil in the ziplock bag in which the xacto knives arrived can be seen in the photo.

The name is deceiving
3/5

In the description of the item, it says "EXACTO" blades. It should be " X- " instead of " X- ". Nothing but Chinese clones wrapped in oil-soaked paper and stuffed into a plastic box under the "acto" brand. Do not be fooled by the deceptive name; these are not the 11 craft blades that people have been using for years and are familiar with the quality of genuine " X-" blades. 11 blades, ACTO The number "11" is the only marking on the blades. Working on a plastic model, I tested a blade and it dulled right out of the package. True 11 blades are the way to go. When purchasing an item on Amazon, be sure to read the description carefully.
