According to the item's description, it is a 1" binder, but it is more like a 1/2" binder. Pages are too wide to fit inside a sheet protector if you plan on using standard US pages (which is strange since Amazon suggests buying them The rings are so small that it is hard for the wearer to open them because there is no flap to While they aren't as flat as they could be, they are still convenient.

I don't think you could fit a lot of paper inside the metal rings. Additionally, the rings are very hard to open. I got these in the future for my kids, but I would not let them use them if the rings couldn't be opened with my assistance. As there are no tabs, you must pull on the tiny rings in order to open them. Overall, they seem to be very durable, and they are double wrapped during shipping to protect them from damage. It would be nice if the rings could be opened more easily.

To hold papers in sheet protectors, I bought these.
