Does this board have command strips that can be attached to it?
It is true.
The board can be mounted vertically, but can it be installed horizontally?
That won't work without adding brackets to the side. Also, there's the dry erase and eraser piece to deal with.
How deep is the tray when it's installed or is it 2" deep when the tray is not In the absence of such a depth, what is its ?
There is a depth of approximately 1.5 inches with the tray.
If the board is rotated so that the cork is on the left, would the pen tray still be able to be mounted?
I don't see how it would be easy to accomplish this. I do not know if there is any adhesive bonding between the frame parts, but I suspect that you could disassemble the frame. It is not possible to remove the pen tray.

As I had read horror stories about dents and cracks in the boards on arrival, I hoped to have a better experience. As it should have been! In my opinion, the board did a great job The packaging and condition of the package was perfect. Since the markers and erasers caused problems with others, it was an easy decision to just order a separate package of pens/erasers/cleaning spray and eliminate those concerns. This combo of whiteboard and corkboard has been very useful!.
