It took 20 minutes or so to assemble Some of the holes where the screws went were covered by fabric, so the number could have been less. For the holes to be able to be seen, I had to cut away fabric. I like the style of the chair and it is comfortable to sit in. There is nothing to indicate how long the upholstery will hold up, and it seems to be rather thin. I found that there were some loose pieces of fabric tucked between the back rest fabrics. When I moved it, you could hear the pieces clanging together. As all of the parts needed to assemble the chair were available and used, I am not sure what the pieces are. This is strange. A quick update As far as I can tell, none of the other chairs has had loose parts in the back like the first one. I have added two images to try to make sure that you understand what I mean when I mention that the screwholes are The time added by uncovering holes does not seem significant. Give them a try if you know you will need to do so when you begin assembly.
The chair is a good fit for my home office. I hesitated because of the reviews, but I'm glad I didn't take them too seriously in the end. I really like it because it looks nice and it has a great feel to it. My husband assembled it by himself without any trouble in about 30 minutes.

It is nearly impossible to assemble. Both of the chairs I purchased had screw holes that did not line up. After some hammering and prying and two hours of work, the deal was done.
