I was able to get this single-use item after a few hours. The drawer lateral file cabinet is assembled, and it appears to work well and, hopefully, will last; however, the instructions were extremely cryptic, even for a Ph. D. There are also 20 wood screws with holes marked but not drilled out, according to the scientist. Without a full pilot hole, it's difficult, if not impossible, to install a wood screw reliably in particle board. The holes in the package were only about 1/16" deep or less. Fortunately, I had a drill and drill bits that worked, though it's important to drill deep enough but not all the way through to the visible finished side. br>br>The instructions were only in English and had a few words, but they could have used a lot more because the assembly drawings were confusing. Due to asymmetrical marking holes for screws to mount the slide tracks on the sides, I had to disassemble and reassemble the file drawer after discovering that it mattered which side the front was on. Because of this, the tiny holes are depicted on the drawing but are not mentioned in the instructions. Finally, there are a few white plastic angled fittings that go inside somehow, somewhere, and for no apparent reason. Finally, aside from those white plastic pieces, I had a lot of extra parts. It's always nice to have a backup of each critical component, but this seemed excessive; however, having too many fittings is preferable to having too few. Oh, and there's a 4" clear warning sticker on the top that peels off with a sticky adhesive residue.
I gave it a 3/5 because it was the least expensive of the options we considered. What you pay for is exactly what you get. There were a few minor flaws, and putting it together was a chore. An important note: if you use the file cabinet as a file cabinet, the drawer will fall forward on you when you pull it out.
I just finished putting this together, and I can tell you the following:
- This is acceptable in light of the price. This isn't something I'd buy for regular use in the office.
- For the price, the construction is average; i. e. Although not particularly durable, it is adequate for light use.
- Make sure the locking two wheels are placed where they are needed. from the front to the back
- Keep an eye out for circular locking disks that grab screw-in items. posts; You'll use the four smaller ones on the file drawer, which are clearly marked.
- It takes a long time to put this together! The instructions are short and to-the-point. However, I found the pictures to be adequate. REMEMBER TO KEEP THINGS ORGANIZED! The parts bags are clearly labeled; Remove only what you need for a specific step from the bag. br>It was purchased for my wife, a teacher, who was forced to teach from home due to a family emergency, so we built her a mini-studio. office.
They responded the next day, much to my surprise, and their email had such a pleasant 'tone' to it. The replacement part arrived in a few days, and I was able to get the printer back up and running within a week. I haven't had or used this cabinet long enough to give it a thorough review, but so far it's been satisfactory. What I can say with certainty is that Devaise's customer service is outstanding, and I will gladly do business with them again.
It has a heavy bottom and tips over when the file drawer is open. I'm hoping it'll be able to withstand the test of time.
This cabinet is one of my favorites because it is both attractive and functional. It's fairly simple to put together, though I had a little trouble with the drawer rails because the instructions didn't say to unclip and slide them apart before mounting them. Assembly went smoothly after I figured that out, and there were no other issues. The cabinet is mobile and fits perfectly in my limited space.
After being put together, it's quite nice. I had to take my time and orient the pieces and hardware from small drawings of each piece because the instructions were mostly pictures. It isn't the worst, but it's also not the best. In my opinion, a couple of steps were out of order. Otherwise, it looks good and works well; I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a home office piece, so this was fine; there were better-quality options, but they cost twice as much, so I can live with a one-time purchase. PITA set of instructions that takes a long time to complete.
This file drawer piece is one of my favorites. It is much easier to access files from the side than it is to access files from the traditional file drawer, which opens front to back and requires pulling the drawer out to access the back files. It can also hold a lot more files than a regular file drawer. The piece was simple to assemble and appears to be of good quality. The drawer opens and closes with great ease. My purchase has made me extremely happy.
