Questions & Answers

I removed and reinstalled the full software for my scanjet 4600 on my Windows XP 32bit computer, but the HP Director still won't open. ?

This is a question for which I am not the best person to respond. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with this scanner.

Has anyone found a Windows 7 driver?

One does not exist. In any case, it's not coming from HP. I bought VueScan to run on Windows 7 Pro, but the scanner kept dropping connections, so I ended up buying an old Dell laptop running XP Professional SP3. It worked beautifully on photos mounted on poster board when used in conjunction with VueScan, and it's a great tool to have on hand for scanning flat objects that won't scan with a standard scanner.

The HP ScanJet 4600 is a scanner that was developed by HP
5/5

Research tool that can be taken with you. Interviews and visits to museums and other resource centers are a big part of my historical research. This small scanner fits into my laptop bag and can be used to copy research materials on the go. br>Its design allows you to place it on top of the item to be copied, which is safer for old and rare documents. They are no longer manufactured by HP. That was a bad decision!.

It makes me happy

We had to buy a used one because we couldn't find a new one. It arrived as described and continues to function properly years after purchase.

Scanning in a different way
5/5

I used to have one of these a few years ago and really enjoyed it. When I moved, it broke, and I discovered that HP no longer sells it. It can be carried in a backpack or a laptop bag. I do genealogical research, and the biggest benefit of this type of scanner is that it can scan large items like maps, portraits, quilts, and so on, and then stitch them together with a program like Photoshop. I long for the days when I could use this tool.

This scanner is fantastic
4/5

Mac users, on the other hand, should be on the lookout. This is the scanner I have, and it is an excellent scanning tool. Please keep in mind the following: If you're a Mac user, keep in mind that any OS higher than 10 will cause problems. 4 (we've now reached number 10) This scanner is not compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite (version 10. 10). This would be a fantastic purchase if you have an older Mac or use a Windows computer.

It's about time
4/5

I've used a variety of scanners in the past, ranging from the traditional "insert document, close lid, pray that the page doesn't move" type to the hand-held variety. There were flaws in each of them. br>br>This scanner's see-through positioning is a game changer. Simply by looking through the glass, I can tell if the paper needs to be repositioned. br>br>In addition, I have scanned large (36" x 36") plans and combined them using the included software. I was completely taken aback when I couldn't figure out where the software had overlaid the individual scanned images in the final document. Nice.

The included OCR software works great, I've copied complete pages from books with 100% accuracy. The only drawback is that it is somewhat slow. The first image takes about 20 seconds to capture, and the subsequent images take about 15 seconds. But, on the other hand, I don't spend my days scanning. br>br>Scanners that require a lid aren't necessary. Get this.
