Questions & Answers

Is it compatible with Windows 10?

Last year, I purchased one. It's great, but when I tried to scan a PDF recently, it didn't work. Epson sent me the scanner's Windows 10 download, which I installed, and everything is now working properly.

Is it possible for you to scan photos that are 4 x 6 inches?

Because I'm organizing old photos from the 1800s and 1900s for a family photo book so we can all have copies with descriptions and family tree placement, I've scanned many different sizes of photos, both black and white and color. I've also done documents with this scanner, and I'm very pleased with it.

How big is the scanner?

8 1/2 inches wide by just over 11 inches tall - 8 1/2 x 11 is roughly letter size.

Is it possible to use this scanner with a MacBook Pro?

My operating system is OS X 10. 3 br>Is this something you can work with?

Caution is used by artists
4/5

While this scanner does an excellent job scanning line art, it falls short when it comes to scanning colored images. I've included photos of a quick drawing I made to demonstrate what I'm talking about. I like how bright and clear the scanner is, but I don't like how it reduces the image's saturation and contrast. br>br>The machine itself is nice; it's quick, and it has a lot of different settings for documents, photographs, line-art and colored illustrations, and so on. It does make a terrible noise while scanning, but other reviews have mentioned this as well, and it doesn't seem to be an issue to me. This scanner is also portable and simple to use and install thanks to the USB connection. br>br>Now, I understand that this scanner was not designed specifically for art, but given that photographs have the same amount of color, I was hoping for a little more. I haven't scanned a photo yet, but given the quality of my art scans, I'm a little worried about how it will turn out. Advantages: br>br> br>Scanning speedbr>Ease of usebr>Pricebr>Clarity of scanned imagesbr>USB connectionbr>Windows 10 compatiblebr>br>Cons: br>Noise br>Color br> loss and contrast-loss of imagesbr>No way to turn it off without disconnecting itbr>br>Overall, it's a nice little scanner, especially for the price, as some scanners cost over $200. If you plan on using this scanner for a hobby or to scan documents, etc. , I would spend a little more to get something of higher quality, but if you only plan on using it for a hobby or to scan documents, etc. , this scanner should suffice.

A modern, high-end design It's a high-resolution scanner that's completely useless for the job
3/5

The scanner is compact and lightweight. The included stand is a brilliant space-saving device. saver; The colors are vibrant, and the scan resolution is excellent. So, what's the deal with the one-star rating? br>br>There are seven evenly-spaced holes in the board. On each scan, I spaced out the missing "bars" of pixels. (On my second photo, I only show 5 of them because the page wasn't full)br>br>These aren't just one or two missing pixel columns. That sample was scanned at 1200dpi (1/4 of the scanner's maximum resolution) in my first attached photo, and each instance already has four columns of pixels missing. I missed a whopping 16 pixels at full resolution. On magazine scans, this is clearly visible, as it interferes with the halftone pattern. It cuts people's faces out of photo scans. Especially when it comes to group shots - They will lose their eyes and noses as a result of this. These aren't caused by the gear slipping (because they're vertical and perpendicular to the sensor bar). This isn't a one-time thing. I didn't think it was a defect because I ordered a replacement (Amazon is great) and both scanners have the same missing columns. I'm not sure why this was "included" in the first place. br>br>Another annoyance is the fact that the anchor corner on the scanner glass is not a true corner, which was initially thought to be minor. If you place your document flush against the glass's edges (as anyone who wants a high-quality scan should), you'll get a better scan. aligned would suffice), you'd be missing out on about 1. 5 millimeters of content In a 4"x6" photograph, that's a lot of information. This is the first scanner I've ever used that didn't scan documents that were flush with the glass's edges. As a result, you'll have to position your photo away from the scanning glass's edges, and you'll almost certainly have to straighten the resulting scanned images later (because unless you have superhuman vision, there's no way to put your photo perfectly perpendicular to the edges without touching them). br>br>With those two flaws, it's only suitable for document scanning. There's no reason for me to buy this scanner if all I need is a document scanner. Most all- At half the price, scanners can scan at 600dpi in a reasonable amount of time, which is more than adequate for document scanning. This V19, on the other hand, is aimed squarely at people who scan photos and magazines for a living. There is no way to compare. The 4800dpi resolution is completely useless due to the missing pixels.

Scans multiple potos at once and transforms dark images into stunning works of art! I ordered it with the expectation of returning it, but with the hope that it would work
5/5

It's absolutely incredible! Scanning my many bins full of family photos over the years while watching a show has been simple and convenient. There is no need for a power source; all you need is your laptop. I can put multiple pictures on the scanner and it will scan each one into its own file; many of my original photos were old and dim due to age or simply poor photography skills. This scanner actually lightened those photos while still making them look natural and great, to the point where I'll be able to use them in my upcoming digital photo books! Thank you very much. I won't return it, and when it eventually wears out, as all electronic devices do, I'll order another.

I bought the Epson Perfection V19 on June 1, 2015, and I can only recommend it for a short-term project
3/5

It passed away today, January 28, 2016. Unfortunately, the deadline for returning it has passed, and I now have a dead scanner. During the first 12 weeks, it performed admirably. After that, it started acting strangely, and I had to reinstall drivers multiple times to keep it running. It stopped working about a month ago. I downloaded a developer kit from the Epson website and was able to get it to work again. It has completely ceased to function. This scanner is only suitable for a short-term project; if you require a scanner that will last a long time, look elsewhere. This is not a good buy.
