What you pay for is exactly what you get. Certainly not the quietest printer on the market! While printing, it sounds like an old dial modem is attempting to connect to the internet. However, it is dependable and produces high-quality receipts; I have seven of them in my stores, and they work flawlessly with the square stand POS and the square register.
This model is plug and play compatible with Square Stand via USB now that Square's software has been updated. We have two of these in our restaurant connected to our Square Stands via USB. The only drawback is that this model, like most EPSON POS printers, requires a large power adapter with a proprietary EPSON connector on one end, a large brick on the other, and a standard ac plug on the other. This simply means that wiring will be a little more complicated unless you can route everything under your counter like we did.
Square POS is completely compatible with it. We're using an iPad on a square stand, and we simply connected the printers (we have two) and they appeared immediately. There is no need to program or install drivers. For the price, this is a nice little thermal printer, and it's a name brand, so I'm hoping it will last a long time.
As listed, this item is not new. After a month in the drycleaning facility, I bought two of these and used them. In less than three months, one of them has already developed a serious ailment. Only the correct portion of the ticket is printed. The ticket's left side is illegible. There appears to be a defect with the thermal printhead. Because Amazon has a support button, you should contact them. After speaking with one of the representatives, I was assured that I would receive a free return label via email and a complete refund. Wait a few hours to see if the email has arrived. I contacted Amazon again, only to be told that I am no longer eligible because it has been 30 days. The new representative gave me the epson customer service number, which is incorrect. If it's outside of the return window, don't offer it. Please do not include it as an option if there is no expert available to resolve the technical issue. It's all a complete waste of time.
Excellent value for money. A year ago, I bought three of these. I was considering purchasing a much more expensive printer, but this one produces excellent receipts. There were no issues, and after the initial setup (which was fairly simple), the only thing left to do is change the paper, which takes about a second. I would strongly suggest it.
I have replaced everything on my system and still can't get it to work, so I had a tec look at it and they said it was the printer.
It's a cinch to use. This is one of the most capable thermal printers available. It's a dependable workhorse that never lets you down. It's been over two years and I haven't had a single issue with it. In addition, it was simple to set up. I would definitely consider getting another one if the need arises.
