Questions & Answers

Is it possible to record an acoustic grand piano with one of these?

This microphone works well with pianos and almost any other acoustic instrument. Condenser microphones like this should not be used on upright pianos; instead, use mic. in the vicinity of the player You'll get a better result if you take off the piano's top and bottom plates, exposing the strings. Place a microphone in front of grand pianos. a few feet away from the piano, near the top end of the open top plate

There was the original nt1 a long time ago, and then there was the nt1-S. a, followed by another nt1. I'm not sure which nt1 it is. Is it named after the first or the second person?

Two of the original NT1s are in my possession. They appear to have been designed for Soviet military use and are nearly impervious to damage. You can get a used one for $100 or less, and I highly recommend it if you want to save money while still getting the same results.

Is it necessary to use Audacity to remove noise from this mic?

That depends on what you mean by "depending on what you mean by "depending on what you If you're referring to self-noise (electrical noise produced by the microphone itself), ) No. It's a mic that's very quiet. It is, however, a very sensitive one, and it will pick up background noise if you are not in a quiet environment.

The black ceramic finish feels cool to the touch and has a sleek appearance
5/5

I'm a San Antonio-based voice-over performer. The first thing I noticed about this microphone was the build quality, which I purchased for my home studio where I record professional works as well as practice. The NT1 has a quality weight to it that speaks to its durability when compared to previous Rode mics. The black ceramic finish feels cool to the touch and has a sleek appearance. The NT1 microphone is a sleek, sexy-looking microphone that performs just as well as it looks when used with the SMR shock mount. This microphone produces incredible audio, with crisp and clear audio from any source you're recording. The sound of the Rode NT1 is distinctive. It covers the entire spectrum and sounds extremely natural, with bright highs, solid mids, and warm lows. The new SMR shock mount is the source of my only two complaints. The included pop filter, while very sleek, is not always effective. It does a fantastic job about 95% of the time, but some breath can get through on occassionally some The SMR shock mount is incredibly effective at isolating external noise. It does not, however, swivel left or right, which can be inconvenient when working in tight spaces. I have plenty of room to work, so it's not a big deal for me, but it's something to think about. With the Rode swivel arm, this is what I use. Don't use other low-cost brands for swivel mounts; this is a pricey microphone, so take care of it.

Customer service is not up to par
3/5

This microphone was brand new when I bought it, and I've only used it a few times since then. It sounded fantastic at first, and I've always taken great care in handling and storing the microphone. The noise level dropped dramatically in less than six months, seemingly out of nowhere. It had gotten to the point where recording with it was pointless due to the static and pops. I contacted customer service to file a claim, as it should have been covered under the one-year factory warranty, and was told to return the microphone to their California facility for repairs. I was also told that only repairs and return shipping would be covered, so I'm stuck paying a $75 UPS bill to ship a broken microphone back to them for repair. Look, I understand if their 10-year warranty doesn't cover every repair shipment, but I've only had this microphone for about 6 months. I was also told that the capsule had to be replaced, indicating that there had been a manufacturing defect. As a result, I'm not sure why I should be responsible for returning it to them for repairs. This entire experience has made me reconsider buying another Rode product in the future, especially since I've heard that other people are having similar problems with the NT1's noise floor while still claiming that it is the quietest microphone in its class.

Excellent microphone for vocals
5/5

Excellent microphone for vocals. Solid construction with excellent fit and finish. Custom pop shield is included. Rode products, particularly this mic, come highly recommended by me. It's a little warmer and sounds a little more "vintage" than the NT-X. 1A (again, a fantastic microphone). I've mostly used it for vocals, but I've also used it to mic acoustic guitars on occasion. Make no mistake, TALENT creates and distributes vocal tracks to home audio enthusiasts. You don't need Neuman or any other high-end software if you aren't a professional. mics must be turned off This microphone is excellent, and you will be pleased with it. It has a lot of range, and it sounds great even when it's not playing. You'll love this mic if you're recording for fun, demos, or even professionally produced music indie style. It simply works, and Rhode is a reliable company. This is a fantastic vocal mic that I highly recommend. I would purchase this item again.

The original NT1 has been updated in a fantastic way
5/5

I've only done a quick test with this mic, but so far it's performed admirably. The quality of the construction is also very good. A tip: If you look up "NT1" on Gearslutz or other audio/recording forums, you'll find a lot of comments about the original NT1 from 1990. This model, which was released in 2014, appears to be quite different (read: NT1 is superior to the original silver NT1. So, if you're asking for feedback on this microphone, make sure to say whether you're talking about the "2014" or "black" model. Rode may have done themselves a disservice by failing to update the model number when this microphone was released. Also: I found the SMR shock mount and pop filter that came with this kit to be of excellent quality, but a little bulky and not particularly versatile, so I'm using the SMR shock mount and pop filter that came with this kit instead.
