No, it simply removes the copy protection coding from the signal input. For me, it's a great solution.

Will I be able to copy movies from satellite TV with this device?

My only source of entertainment is television. It's what I use to make backup copies of DVDs.

On letterbox or full screen, the Sima 200 performs admirably with no copy issues. I put it to the test on three new DVDs that I had recently purchased. The picture brightness control buttons need to be improved because they are too small.
