The Best Professional Audio Interface on the Market
5/5

This unit was purchased to replace my original MOTU UltraLite, which I purchased in 2007. With the exception of some dimness on the LCD Display, that unit still functions perfectly. The only reason I bought this new model, the mk5, is that I had to retire my old MacBook Pro music computer and replace it with a newer MacBook Pro that only has USB-C ports. C ports. Since the UltraLite's inception. There is no adapter for USB-C to the FireWire 400 / IEEE 1394 standard. So, since it had been 14 years since I purchased my first UltraLite, I figured I'd go all out and upgrade. I am extremely happy with the mk- br>br>I use this device to perform live music. All of my sounds are generated by my MacBook Pro, which I use to play keyboards. For my keyboard sounds, I use Ableton Live as a host. For the live music that we perform, Ableton Live is also used to playback Click Track, Bass, Drum, and Percussion tracks. I looked at a few other competitors' units, but none are as small or have as many dedicated outputs as this one. I need a dedicated output for my keyboards, bass tracks, drum tracks, percussion tracks, click tracks, and occasionally a cues track for the music we play. br>br>The mk- is a model of a model of a model of a model of a model of a 5 was a cinch to use. There was no need to download any additional software. When I plugged it in and started Ableton Live, it immediately appeared in the audio options. br>br>I did download the MOTU Cue Mix 5 app, which is an excellent user interface for the mk-80. It has a rating of 5 out of 5 stars and is extremely user-friendly. br>br>If I could change one thing about the unit, it would be that it was powered by a bus like the original. However, I must emphasize that this is a minor factor that has had no impact on performance. When I'm playing my live keyboard rig, I just want as few cables and messes as possible. My suggestion is straightforward. br>br> Forget about the competition and invest in the MOTU UltraLite mk-II instead. 5, particularly if you're a keyboardist who performs with tracks. This is, without a doubt, the best audio interface on the market. And, for me, it might be the last one I ever buy, because if it lasts 14 years like the original, I'll probably be done with live music. And if that doesn't work out, I'm thinking about getting the mk- At that point, I was a ten. What are you waiting for? br>br>How long have you been waiting? BUY IT!.

It's versatile and well-presented

Cons: The USB cables that come with the product are a little short. br>br>Pros: Everything else is optional. br>br>This interface can be used to listen to the PC, monitor line out, and aux-in. My studio monitors and headphones let me hear what's going on in there. For calls and gaming, I have a microphone connected. Using an unbalanced monoprice 3. The line out and aux are 5mm trs to dual 1/4" ts, which isn't ideal, but it can be fixed with some additional hardware. I can compensate for the - by hard panning those channel pairs and increasing their gain. 6db. br>br>That leaves me with a mic/line/inst combo jack, two balanced line inputs for my electronic drums or other gear, eight balanced line outputs, optical for spdif or adat, coaxial spdif, and midi in and out. Although I don't have any high-impedance or power-hungry headphones, the headphone amp sounds promising. Because there is an EQ for outputs, I no longer need to use equalizerAPO. br>br>CueMix5 is a little basic, but I have yet to find a way that it limits my functionality. I can enable/disable any of the inputs/outputs and set any of them as the default for Windows, as well as route main computer audio to any output. It has loopback/gate/compression/reverb/eq/panning/full mixer, so I can play through my studio monitors and headphones at the same time, and I can stream without including my friends in voice chat or soundboard playback by using main out for obs and phones out for discord/soundboard. The unit is externally powered and retains settings in memory, so I can use it without turning on my computer. br>br>Effects can be set to pre or post-send to usb host. br>br>The unit is externally powered and retains settings in memory, so I can use it without turning on my computer. It is possible to turn it off without unplugging it. This interface is highly recommended if you do not require AVB or motu's more versatile matrix routing and mixer. The software, which is actually quite good, is the only bottleneck here, in my opinion. This is a huge improvement over my 2i2.

Finally! As a result, Mac M1 users now have a low-cost interface that delivers high-quality production and audiophile sound

It took less than 5 minutes to put together a simple setup. Sweetwater also sells rack ears, which I'll use to mount this to my rack. I remember MOTU from the mid-90s, and they're still making good solid equipment. The display is minimal, and it's lightweight so you can use it on the go. The usb- The c cord that came with it is only about 2 feet long, which isn't nearly long enough to reach my rack unit, but that's my only gripe so far. I didn't have much money to spend on a USB drive. C/Thunderbolt 3 interface, but in a way, that's a good thing because I found this piece and it's a much better deal. I use Apple LogicPro as my DAW, and I have a set of KRK rokit7s and a KRK rokit8S. sub. I contacted MOTU before purchasing and had no trouble reaching a live person to ask questions, so I know if I need help, I won't be ignored or lost. I considered the UAD Apollo X6 (too expensive and two years old), and the Focusrite Pre8/Red (way too expensive and two years old). ) This was released in April of 2021, so it's newer technology. It has a responsive OLED display and high-quality buttons. It has Phantom 48V for my condenser mic, as well as MIDI outputs for my vintage KORG synthesizer. MOTU has done an excellent job.

A fantastic value-to-performance ratio has been achieved
5/5

When the first UltraLite was released, I bought it right away, and it was well worth the wait. It immediately appears to be a vast improvement. I understand that every business wants to stand out, but no one wants their rack to be cluttered with a rainbow of colors. So far, it appears to be a fantastic device. Clean design and bright screen—very nice. br>I've already used it a lot and it has everything I was looking for in a user interface, including USB support. It was critical to obtain C. br>I'm glad this came out because I was considering the RME UFX but didn't want to spend $3000 on it, and I'm not a big fan of the silver look. I would have bought it right away if they had an interface that looked like their DAC, but I'm glad I waited because I would have regretted spending so much money when this one fits the bill perfectly.
