My requirement was to connect two lengths of guitar amp foot switch cable to this coupler. There is a Mesa Boogie Express 5 in my house A 5 Pin DIN connector is used for the 25 pin connector. shields on both sides of this coupler are not electrically connected, and that's the only issue. The wire can be wrapped around the coupler and then it works just fine for my purpose. I would have preferred to know before I purchased that the shields are not connected. It is my first time using this coupler for MIDI, however.
It does what they say it will In order to troubleshoot MIDI issues more easily, I purchased this MIDI coupler. There are a number of MIDI cables near the MIDI switch that I am using. My coupler allows me to connect various MIDI cables to different test points so that I can determine whether the problem is with the cables or the switches. As opposed to tracing each cable and climbing behind the synthesizers, it was more efficient. My recommendation is to try it out.
Ask Keith.
My previous midi cable was too short, and my other cable was close to it in length. With this little gem, I have a long midi cord that can convert to two short ones when necessary.
In short, it connected my two *15' midi cables to make one *30' cable, allowing me to run the wire around the room behind the furniture to connect the electric drums to my computer instead of cutting a wire across the floor.
This was ordered to extend the functional range of a remote control for my grandfather's recliner. It never occurred to me to use these 5 pins for more than one purpose! It is built to last and is of high quality.
There is nothing you need to worry about with this female to female MIDI connector. If you connect two cables together, be careful that you don't end up with too much MIDI cable. The MIDI cable I connected to this and the 10 foot and 15 foot cable worked fine together. It is not recommended to connect MIDI cables longer than 30 feet together (i. e. The cables are 15 feet long each). If you have a high-quality cable, you are supposed to be able to run it for up to 50 feet It might not be a good idea to patch two 25 foot MIDI cables together. Since MIDI is a digital signal, the quality of the signal cannot be affected by degradation (as in analog), It's due to too long of a cable run inhibiting signal strength.
The product played its advertised role exactly as described. * I had to extend two power cables to become one long power The fit is nice and snug.
This is a simple and easy process. I have used them before, and they seem to work well.
