The purpose of this purchase was to connect my iPad and iPhone to my dac and then onto the rest of my music system. I've used it for a while and it works wonderfully. Because the onboard dac on Apple devices restricts the sampling rate to CD quality, it is necessary to use a dac. Thanks to this cable, I was able to produce music at high res.
