For the Electric Beginner, this guitar is ideal! It looks and sounds great for the rising star, but the package it comes with is definitely a no. The Guitar and Bar are all you'll want/need to use, as the rest of the "Package" is a complete waste of time to use. The case could have been a Hefty Trash Bag, the tuner was WAY off for tuning the guitar, the amplifier was all beat up looking with so much fuzz in the sound, and I didn't trust the strap not to rip by the way it looked and felt. Guitar Great Package was a no for me, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the PACKAGE order and not just the Glen Burton guitar.
"Used - New" was the combination I purchased. I'd give it a "Used - Very Good" rating. Acceptable" because the guitar's body has visible dings and the amp's finish has a noticeable split. The packaging's outer layer was in good shape, but the inner layer was in terrible shape. amplification: br>br>amplification: br>br>amplification: amplification: amplification br>br>The headphone jack is broken (it makes a connection while inserting the plug but then loses it with 1/8" to go). Aside from that, the amp appears to be in good working order to my untrained ear. It wasn clear from the photos so I will mention it here : The amplifier I received is not battery-operated and must be plugged in. Bag: br>br>Bag: br>br>Bag: br>br>Ba This is a plasticky canvas cover, not a case. br>br> It might keep the dust out and the rain off a guitar between your car and your house, but that's about all the protection I'd expect it to provide; the external pocket is big enough to hold cables, a set of strings, the vibrato bar, and other small items, but I'd be hesitant to put anything solid in there; The guitar isn't well protected from the contents of the pocket. br>br>Guitar: br>br> br>br>Based on the burrs that came off the nut after tuning, it appears to be made of soft plastic. The neck truss rod needed to be adjusted, which could have been due to the cold weather during shipping. br>br>It appears that the only setup done before it arrived at me was stringing it up. There was no stretching of the strings. It took a few tries to get it to stay tuned. Someone appears to have attempted to raise the D string's bridge all the way up, stripping one of the hex screws in the process. Aside from that, the bridge was left in a straight line rather than vertically following the curve of the neck. It was left in a straight line on the horizontal plane. from- the- By the 12th fret, several strings had become noticeably out of tune due to the factory stair step configuration. br>br>It sounds good to me after setting it up. The frets aren't *sharp* along the edge where you slide your thumb, but I'm planning on smoothing them out for comfort. br>br>If the vibrato bar is loose or in the wrong position when tightened, you can fix it by inserting a spring (not included) into the hole before screwing it in. Miscellaneous: br>br> A low-cost digital tuner is included in the kit. BATTERY IS NOT INCLUDED; one CR2032 coin cell is required. It appears to be functioning properly. br>br>There's nothing to say about the strap, extra strings (which I haven't used yet), picks (which are cheap plastic), hex keys, or cable. Overall: br>br> br>br>All of the gear is labeled "Glen Burton," including the amp, guitar, bag, and tuner. I couldn't find any serial numbers on anything. br>br>I paid $72 USD for this set, and I believe it is worth that much. However, I see it's now being advertised for up to $300; don't waste your money on it. This may be acceptable to a beginner who wants to learn how to set up a guitar, but others may prefer to pay a luthier $50 to have it properly set up.
My new Glen Burton Strat is perfect for me. It's lovely and enjoyable to listen to. It has the same look, feel, and sound as a Strat. Strap locks and locking tuners are the only additions I've made. The action was fantastic right out of the gate - I made a few minor adjustments. Today was the first time I heard it played in a worship service - It sounded great, and it was a great deal for both beginners and advanced players. I've been playing for more than four decades. This isn't your typical beginner's guitar. Instrument of high quality.
There is no customer service, and the description claims that it includes a digital tuner. That is not the case. In my opinion, that is a must-have for a beginner. I attempted to contact Amazon customer service but was unable to do so. There is no one I can speak with right now, I can't get a call, and there is no customer service. I have no choice but to give a one-star rating because I did not receive what was described and am unable to contact anyone.
This was an excellent performance. Nothing too extravagant, but also nothing too cheesy. If you have a newbie or enthusiast in your life and want to give them a nice first gift, this is a great way to show you're paying attention.
On the surface, this is a lovely guitar. You won't know what you're missing until you take a closer look. It had a smear mark of some sort of glue-like substance on it. The guitar also had a grounding issue, which resulted in a low hmmmmmmmmm sound whenever it was connected to any output amp. The overall quality was deplorable. Although it appears to be nice in general, I wouldn't show it to friends up close because it would be most noticeable. However, they aren't visible in photos of me holding it. br>Again, this is a GROUNDING ISSUE. I wouldn't have any serious complaints if there wasn't a grounding issue.
My requirements are simple, and this guitar perfectly fulfills them. The amp is small but powerful, and it includes a boost button for that "rock" sound. The electric tuner is small and convenient, and the guitar itself is attractive. The gig bag is fairly inexpensive (the zipper broke almost immediately, but I wasn't expecting much).
My son is a beginner, and he enjoys playing this guitar a lot. The only flaw was the bag it came in. The zippers on both sides of the bag were completely ripped out.
