Cello strings, to be precise. It's a piezo pickup. electric.

Is it true that there's no sound?

It isn't 100% silent, but I would guess that when you are playing with headphones, the volume is reduced by 90 when compared to a normal cello. 95%. Amazing
5/5

There is no electric cello that comes close to this. After doing a lot of research, I decided to go with the Yamaha. This is without a doubt one of the best investments I've ever made. The depth of sound is incredible, and when I compare it to other electric cellos I've tried in the showroom, I can tell the difference in sound quality. Simply put, the sound of this cello is more fluid and consistent. br>br>For a cello, silence isn't exactly silence. I only bring it up because people have asked, and what "silent" actually means is that the Yamaha produces far less sound than an acoustic, even one with a mute. Is it possible to hear this without headphones or an amp when you're playing? Without a doubt. But, unlike my acoustic, which can be heard from outside my house when I play, I can play the Yamaha with the door closed and it will be barely audible. br>br>Ideal for trips where you don't want to sacrifice practice time because it can withstand temperature and humidity changes better than an acoustic (unless you have a carbon fiber cello). If you play the cello, enjoy music, and want to have more fun, this is something you should consider. I am confident that you will not be disappointed.

The electric cello is outstanding
5/5

Before I bought this cello, I did a lot of research. This electric cello, in my opinion, sounds more like an acoustic cello than a few other electric cellos. They use a Piezo pickup, which is most commonly found on acoustic guitars, and it's housed in a hollow chamber beneath the bridge, giving it a more acoustic sound. An Aubert bridge is included. I did have to take it to a luthier for some minor adjustments, which cost me $100 but was well worth it. It's fun to play and listen to. When not connected to an amplifier, it is not completely silent, but it is quiet enough to practice in the middle of the night without disturbing others.

There's enough silence
5/5

It came with great strings, but I replaced them with Kaplan strings simply because I prefer the way they sound. br>This is quiet enough for apartment living, which is why I purchased it. br>I recently bought Roland MOBILE AC - As a portable amp for cello, the 5W 2x4" Acoustic Combo Amp is recommended. br>It sounds wonderful. It has made me very happy. Amazon's Violin Shop was where I got it. UPS demolished it and had a new one delivered to my door before the first one was due to arrive; they are professional and accommodating. They come highly recommended from me.

Right out of the box, this is an excellent instrument
5/5

Right out of the box, this is an excellent instrument. Arrived in half the time expected from Japan, with very little setup required to get going. It took some time to tune everything up, but it's now working perfectly. Except for the double A batteries, it came with everything you need to play.

It has a good foundation
4/5

The sound it produces is satisfactory to me. This is my first cello, and I'm a complete beginner. It has a good foundation. I like how it sounds, but I haven't connected it to an amplifier yet. Setting it up was a breeze. My purchase has met my expectations.
