Questions & Answers

Is it possible to buy these in pairs? Do I have to buy a set for each side of the guitar or can I have one for both?

Each pair comes as a set

Are these compatible with the existing strap buttons that come with Music Man guitars such as the John Petrucci model, or do they have to be replaced?

Both parts of the strap lock are included. A replacement strap button is what will replace the one that comes with the guitar, as well as the strap attachment. The Music Man Axis and my Les Paul twins are currently in use with these.

To release the lock, do you push the "buttons" on the sides of the strap lock in, or is the plastic or metal?

These are made of very durable hard plastic. No lock I've used has ever failed me or had any issues. This is a product I have on all my guitars, and I would strongly recommend it.

These are some of the best products available
5/5

The guitar strap locks I worked with are some of the best I have ever used. The features they have are very unique - low profile, low profile design, easy to fit. A set of Ernie Ball Super guitar locks comes with highly detailed instructions for installation. In addition to my review, I am including six photos. In addition, I have created a YouTube video about this product. So if you are having trouble deciding what is the best guitar strap, just get these and you won't be disappointed. I give these guitar strap locks 5 stars.

The locks are great
5/5

You might not know this, but these do not touch the OEM Ernie Ball strap buttons (or at least my StingRay Special does not). As a result, it was easy to swap out the buttons, since the threads of the new screws are the same size, so you don't need to enlarge the holes. This lock is great. I am really happy with it. Even though they are a little more expensive than the Dunlops, I have always used them because they are cheap and reliable Despite the price difference, I prefer having the buttons on the sides, rather than the ends, like with On top of that, I was nervous that these straplocks would be too bulky and heavy based on the pictures. In some way, the stock photos give the false impression that they are that way, but they aren't. Their slender and low-profile design makes them easy to wear.

It's that simple
4/5

Does the job. There is not a lot to this. They are a design I prefer, which is why I bought them. The Ernie Ball guitar I put them on is also a sign. If I was going to buy these, I would have purchased them for a lesser amount, but they're going on a $1500 guitar, so in comparison, it's In terms of installation, it was relatively easy, but it is possible that different makes and models of guitars would have different screw sizes, so there could be a problem. It is a straightforward operation The two button sides are all you need to push to get going. You must, however, give both sides a tug of war by engaging them both. A few years back, mine didn't and I hit my guitar on my stage headstock. Since then, I always check twice but also make sure I firmly press in both the lock and side buttons. Having gotten it right the first time, no repeat mistakes or misfires since. It is too early to tell how durable the product will be, but the quality appears good. Having owned them for a few months, I have removed the strap dozens of times with just the one incident mentioned This does stick out quite a bit, so if you're looking for some cons then this is it. like the fact that anyone can use that button without the locks and that is definitely a bonus for me. A few weeks ago, I forgot the strap for practice, so I grabbed whatever strap was lying around. Those systems are not available in many cases.

The following new items are among my In order to replace a Fender set that had broken, I bought these
5/5

The lock did not fail, but the ball end that is used to loosen the strap had unthreaded After pulling the pin and unlocking the strap, there was nothing left to do. For me to free it, I needed to use an air powered cut off wheel. I hate it! It is easier to remove and install the strap from the Ernie Ball design because it sits flat on the wrist. I like this design so far more than the last, but let's see how long it lasts. The Fender locks also get the better of me than Schaller locks since Schaller uses the same pin design that Fender does. In some cases, it is difficult to pull the ball end far enough out to unhook the strap, especially when carrying the guitar and the guitar strap is on your shoulder. A pinch is all that is needed to remove these Ernie Ball locks.

I am very happy with the Let me start by saying that I own strap locks by Schaller, Dunlop, and Ernie Ball
5/5

It has been 30 years since I first picked up a guitar. Starting with Schaller, which were great but a bit too pointy so it was difficult to put instruments down, and if you just wanted to fasten the strap to the instrument without the locks it was very difficult. It was released years later by Dunlop, which had a simple design but was surprisingly cheap. The guitar is easy to set down due to its low profile and the strap button that allows it to be fastened without a lock. A one-button press release system is simple, but can be problematic if it is bumped. It is easy to attach the locks to most straps, but it can be difficult to do because the washer/lock slides onto the strap, which takes a lot of time. Having moved through the years, we are now dealing with Ernie Ball. I am amazed. Three sets have been recorded so far. Gold is my favorite color, so I bought this set. Preparation is the key. From Amazon, you can ship for $7 without paying a cent in taxes. This is a placeholder page for Schoeller 20 Thirty dollars for Dunlop, fifteen dollars for Michelin These were 7 bucks (I had to spend 20 on Ignore the price for now the strap buttons are large enough to use a strap without locks, the locks themselves are heavy gauge and they have an impeccable As opposed to Dunlop's push button mechanism, the locking and unlocking buttons of this type are like silk and take two areas to compress and release. They screw on to your strap to make installation easy and they have a low profile, so it's easy to put down your instrument. The installation process is very straightforward. There is no doubt that these are the best Using steel eyelets, I have also done the van Halen thing, even though it is quite secure and not very practical, but for 70 cents, it did the job.

When in use, the locks are too " tall " vertically
3/5

While they lock well, they have an overall form factor that is excessively Leaning against the back of a sofa, for instance, I cannot put the bottom of my bass on the floor. There are too many protrusions at the bottom of them. Even though I know that you should always use a stand, it's not always possible. I am not sure why it comes with so many screws. Using original screws, I was able to take out the bottom one. The locks actually do their job, but they tend to have a lot of noise in the background.

Compared to Ernie Ball, Schaller is the better player
4/5

The winner is? There's nothing wrong with either. I have both of these strap locks on two guitars (one of them had Ernie Ball strap buttons) as well as These also have the advantage of being able to be released very easily with one hand, but I prefer the Schaller straplocks because they are more robust and to my eye, appear Honestly, I don't see any issue with them, but I feel like they are of lower quality than those from Schaller. Perhaps this will help if you're still on the fence, you will use a screw that is very similar to most screws already installed the Shallers install a thicker, hex wrench screw which could crack a finish if carelessly used. Therefore, my Paul Reed Smith is fitted with Schallers. Shallers locks are just more secure to me and seem better designed. If I need another set of strap locks, I would definitely choose Shallers locks.
